April 2022 Update:
After almost a year of using the pot, it became difficult to switch on. I immediately bought a duplicate; because, dang it! I love this pot! After I put in the order, I was demonstrating to my husband how it doesn’t turn on, and it turned on! My only explanation of what was happening was that something got wet and it hadn’t dried out yet. I do tend to shoot the water from the tap across the counter into the pot...just to make housework more fun. Maybe I should stop doing that, because water can get into the handle.

If your pot suddenly stops working, my suggestion is to unplug it and briefly take a blow dryer to the electric base and the pot’s base. If you have time, forget the blow dryer, and just set it aside to dry naturally.

Many of my appliances, when over heated or wet, will cut off and become unusable until it cools or dries out.

At least I have another pot. If this gets wet again, I can replace it with the new pot until this one dries out. I’m thinking of buying another pot just for the purpose of boiling eggs. That way, I won’t have to worry about bacteria getting in the coffee.

July 2021 update...so, yes, just like others have reported, about a month or so after using it, it suddenly wouldn't turn on. No light, no heat. But I'm not one to sit idly by, and accept a setback as my new reality. No, Sirree! If I'm going to throw something out, I'm going to figure out the cause of the setback so I can repair it. In this case, the first ring around the protruding pin at the center of the bottom of the carafe became rusted. The rust blocks a current between the base and the carafe, preventing the unit from working effectively. If you place the pot at a different angle (place the pot with your alternate hand, for instance), it may work. At any rate, I simply used a fine-grade sand sponge and sanded off the rust. Steel wool may work, also; but it is a very precise and microscopic job, either way. After I sanded off the rust, I blew off the rust residue and added a thin coat of coconut oil to prevent further rusting. So far, so good. I added pictures to point out the rust. As for the white spots inside the pot, that's going to happen if you have hard water. Hey, you didn't hear about people in the 16th century complaining about spots in their water boiler, did you? Of course not! Those lucky people didn't have to deal with water spots, because they carried their water in from the creek and poured it in an iron kettle. I'm sure you can find an iron kettle on Amazon. I'm not sure where your closest creek is. Maybe Google Maps can show you...OR...you can buy white vinegar or just pretend the spots aren't there.

Mild update: Since I'm correcting typos that I failed to catch earlier, I will say as of today, June 14, 2021 the coconut oil appears to be holding its own. I added a wee bit more, but the kettle hasn't stopped or failed to start since I applied the first thin coat. 🙂

Older review: I love it! My last water boiler almost caught my house on fire, leaked and the water sloshed out of the spout. This water boiler pours very smoothly and boils 1 liter of COLD water in four minutes. I haven't timed warm water, but I will confirm it's going to be less than four minutes.
The blue light is ok; not as spectacular as I thought it would be. But I didn't buy this for entertainment.
The spout strainer pulls forward, covering the spout when you close the lid. When you open the lid, it has a spring that allows the strainer to be moved down for filling water. It doesn't stay down, but it won't snap off when you're trying to fill the carafe, which was its intended purpose, I believe. It IS made of metal, so you don't have to worry about poisoning your family with seeping plastic chemicals. In fact, nothing on or in this pot that comes in contact with liquid is made of plastic. The handle and outside of the lid are plastic for the purpose of insulating you from burns. I have on occasion been forced to use a silicone potholder to support the base while pouring, but I wouldn't remove points for that.
It does NOT have a temp control...but you CAN watch it boil and could probably judge from the water's action and reaction when it's the temperature for you. Over time, you be a pro and figuring the proper tea temp.
I really do like this pot, and would recommend it for my own grandmother, if she was alive to use it.
The price is good for the product. I'd buy it if I were you. You don't know when the price will rise.
I have a heat streak. So if something does go wrong with the pot after posting this review, I will be sure to return to post the issues. For now, it's working great!

The big question: “if I schedule a time for it to heat up what happens if I lose Bluetooth connection? Will it still heat?!

The answer= yes!
I shopped wireless and Bluetooth kettles for weeks (UK gets them” wireless ones, we don’t... so lame) so I finally broke down and bought one to find out. Here’s the situation:
The Bluetooth is good for about 25 paces from the device. So when I go upstairs to My room I loose connection. HOWEVER! That does NOT stop a scheduled heat! I set the time when I’m downstairs for next morning and go upstairs (lose connection) when I come down the next Morning it’s warm! So it works even if you go out of range.

Downsides: you can’t set a “regular” daily time, you have to manually set it each night. Minor but lame. Also you don’t set a time, you set how many hours from right now you want it to warm up in. So if it’s midnight and you want tea at 8am you set the timer for “8 hours from now”. Again, minor but odd.

Otherwise works great and the temperature hold feature is nice, it can be set to always 60 min also so you don’t have to select it each time.

This is the most efficient electric kettle I've ever used. The only fault I can find with the design is that the lid needs to be more flexible so it can open wider. And in terms of opening it for cleaning, as long as you use just water, and not "hard water," then cleaning should not be an issue, right.
The blue light mode is as lovely as it is practical.
SUGGESTION: It would be great if there were other 'accessories' -- pots, pans, etc -- that we could use on that same heating element/base of the kettle.
The 1.8 liter kettle is so efficient at boiling water that I use it to jump start boiling water for paste, etc.
Wish we had one of these at university, it would have cooked everything for us.
ENJOY!

This is a very streamlined electric kettle. The blue LED lets you know the water is boiling. There is a max line and it is about a simple as it gets. Who doesn't want a beautiful, well made, easy to use electric kettle?

Our previous Mueller kettle lasted about 3-4 years. Wish they lasted longer. We liked it, so looked for the same on Amazon. Bought one that looks almost identical, but unfortunately is a different model; the new pot does not fit on the old burner nor does the old pot fit on the new burner. So had to throw out both parts of the old one. Seemed a bit wasteful.

Other problem is that there was a card in the box saying that I should go to the Mueller website to register this and I would get my warrantee doubled. I followed the Directions, but could not find a place to register on the website. I sent them an email about this, but have heard nothing.
Other than the above mentioned disappointment, we like the previous kettle and like the new one So far. Like the idea of a glass kettle.

THIS IS THE COOLEST GOSH DANG KETTLE. Listen, I bought this thing cuz I needed hot water, and I needed it fast. Simple enough. It does that. It also does that quieter than my previous kettle. But this isn't just any old ordinary kettle, my friend, oh no. Have you ever thought to yourself, boy I wish I could keep a mini ocean wave inside my home somehow? WELL NOW YOU CAN! Watching the water boil through the glass, lit by the electric blue light, was fascinating enough that myself and 2 roommates stared at it in awe... and the finale? When it's reached boiling temperature, it looks like a MINIATURE TSUNAMI!!! Buy this electric kettle. Buy it now.

So I bought this kettle before moving into my dorm in 1st year of university. I read the reviews and expected this kettle to last about a year, which was fine with me as i expected to move after a year to a better place anyways.
Fast foward to 3 years later, and my little green beaut is still going strong. She still warms up my water mutliple times a day and shows no signs of slowing down.
She has become my best friend. I even have a little painting of her in my room. She gained the name Avocado a few years back. I love her dearly and am not at all disappointed. She smells a bit like plastic on the outside, but has no plastic taste.
I plan to update my review when she eventually runs out of steam (lol)

Nojokes

I'm a 60+ year old fart living in a tiny apartment and had to give up coffee because it interfered with one of my meds. I switched to herbal teas and wanted something quicker to boil water than a pot on my stove. This device did the trick. I LOVE THIS THING. It's better than TV!!!
I wake up at 0 dark thirty every morning (that's a military time that only vets know because they have have actually served their country) and put the water on to boil. The picture is pretty accurate considering it's from my cell phone. The Ovente baths my kitchen in a subtle glow and you can watch the water simmer and get to the proper temp while the steam circulates in the container. I get my entertainment wherever I can get it.
Anyway, I'm happy. What more can you want?

Polaris300

I missed the return window by 3 days, and now I'm out the total cost of this kettle. It stopped working less than a month after buying it. It leaks all over the counter.

UPDATE:
The day after I left the original review, Ovente contacted personally me by email to know that since the pot was under warranty, they would get me a replacement as quick as possible. In addition, the seller contacted me by phone to apologize and insure the process went smoothly. They took an order for a replacement pot, with the color of my choice, and sent a tracking number for the shipment. A few days later, the new pot arrived, and has been working fine ever since. I guess I got a lemon the first time, but they were quick to make sure that I was happy.

Changing from 1 to 5 stars on my review.

I needed to replace my faithful 15-year old Proctor Silex kettle which smelled like melting crayons whenever I turned it on. I really liked the look of a stainless kettle and the Comfee stainless kettle had nice lines and a larger capacity than my old kettle, so I gave it a go. I'm so glad I did!

Here's what's good:
1. This kettle is HUGE at 1.7 liters. You can make a lot of tea (or whatever) without having to refill often.
2. The heating element is simply a rod running vertically up the back of the kettle, so the entire cavity of the kettle is open. That means easy cleaning and nothing hiding under the element as with older kettles with the element on the bottom.
3. The spout has an integrated steel strainer and a removable mesh strainer. The instructions say that it is for water only, so unless you have really chunky water, I'm guessing they assume you are going to make tea in it (which also makes that easy-to-clean feature great). At any rate, you are well protected against chunks traveling from kettle to cup.
4. I have used the kettle a dozen times now when filled to the max line, and each time I have water suitably hot for tea (simmer/rapid simmer) in around three minutes and a full boil at just under five minutes.
5. The power lever under the handle lights up brightly so you can easily tell if the kettle is on. When you take the kettle off the power hub, the kettle automatically shuts off and the lever returns to the off position. Remember to turn it back on if you're just sneaking a little water as it's warming up.
6. It's a good-looking kettle and feels very well made. It's easy to hold when full, despite its large capacity. The pour stream is straight with no splashing around or dribbling. There's a plastic window the length of one side so you can see how much water is in the kettle and track the progression of boiling.
7. There is no smell or added taste to the water.

What's not so good:
1. The mesh screen falls out if you look at it funny. If you're not going to use it, put it in a safe place where you can retrieve it if you really need it.
2. The power base seems really lightweight and I wonder about its stability and durability. I've never had a cordless kettle, so take that criticism with a grain of salt. Maybe this is standard. The lightness of that part just surprised me.
3. The power cord is probably my biggest concern. This is a powerful kettle and the plug is a simple 2-prong NEMA connector attached to a regular cord. The cord does get slightly warm when I heat the kettle to full boil. It concerns me because my old kettle had a 3-prong NEMA connector attached to a massive, thick cord that never got warm, so I do worry about whether this kettle's cord and connector is adequate. For this reason, I make sure to unplug the unit every time I finish using it.

That said, I am really happy with this kettle and I'm glad I chose it. It looks great, performs like a champ, is easy to clean, and seems built to last. I think the price point is great. This one is a keeper and I hope it lasts as long as my old Proctor-Silex.

Since COVID-19 pandemic has me staying-at-home like a sensible citizen, why not write reviews for products I've had for 6 years?? I've already reorganized my kitchen pantry, labeled the shelves, and more! So how about 5 stars for this durable little kettle. It's simple to use, automatically turns off, and makes enough hot water for me and my husband to enjoy. I heard drinking warm beverages is helpful against this virus too, so hey, what better time for YOU to buy a kettle? We have been using this several times a day for years and years and it's great! Just buy it! And THEN sip tea while you ponder the meaning of life when you can't hug your friends and all you have is Netflix and Existential Crisis. See ya on Zoom!

I would recommend this electric kettle. I’ve had it for over 4 years and it continues to be a reliable quality product. I use it every day. The price is right too. Why pay more?!

To clean the inside coil, put a rounded teaspoon of cream of tartar inside with water to the top line and bring to a boil. Once it turns off let it sit for a few minutes then discard the water and rinse out the inside. It does an amazing job of cleaning the metal coil of hard water stains.

Bought same one about 30 years ago and it finally died. Looked everywhere for same model and finally found it on amazon .com. Could not find it in Canada where We live. Very reliable make Proctor Silex and model, so now we have a new one and are happy.

I like that it boils water faster than my traditional kettle and that the handle doesn't get hot.

The only issue I had was that the base was too light that it slid off the countertop but I glued it onto an oldschool warmer I hardly use and it fit the design perfectly. Chefman please take note.

Brandon Blackmoor

I drink coffee I make with my Aeropress (which is awesome -- I should write a review of that after this one). To heat the water, I have been using a cheapo drip coffee maker. When that broke, I looked around for something simpler and easier to wash (yes, even something that only heats water should be washed from time to time). Being simple and easy to wash appears to be out of style, because most of the electric kettles I found were neither. This is both. The inside is smooth, the opening at the top is enormous, and there are no pointless frills like a "filter lid" or a long, impossible-to-clean goose neck.

I do rather that the base were a bit heavier, but I think I can resolve that by gluing a dozen pennies to the bottom. A cheap fix for a trivial problem.

JSBauter

I bought this to boil water for tea. I was using a metal pot before. This makes brewing tea so much easier. My only complaint is the base is hollow on the bottom so it’s very light weight and slides around to easy. I wish the base was heavier. Both other than that, so far it works great. I let it bring water close to a roaring boil then I turn it off and place my tea bags inside to steep. It’s easy to clean. I rinse it out and wipe with a paper towel. It’s getting a little staining from the tea but I just wipe the inside of it out.

I’m an avid tea drinker. Ever since I discovered this type of kettle in Europe on holiday I have been obsessed with its ease and quickness of heating water. This kettle is everything I could have wanted and at a great price! It was packaged well and they were very “kind” set of inserts, offering replacements, extra warranty time, etc.
if you’re a tea drinker, or instant soup fan, this just made your day a lot easier.

Heats water fast and very hot when finished. A small amount of noise but not too bad. If you have to use a drop cord (and I do) it works well but when you lift the pot off of the stand, the stand is so light the cord can drag it off onto the floor. Another thing is you can't heat two pots in a roll. You have to let the pot cool quite a bit before it will turn on again and heat more. But that is actually a good thing, it keeps it from overheating. I just filled it with cold water and set it on the stand, turned it on and after a short while it automatically started heating again. The first pot was still pretty hot when the second was heated so that isn't a problem. As for cleaning, my daughter washed it and said it was aggravating because the lid doesn't come off and gets in the way a little. But not too bad. When you pour the heated water out of the pot you have to pour it slow or it runs down the outside of the pot spilling it.
Overall, I like the pot and will buy another later when needed. It is a very good water heating pot, heats the water real hot, it is fast, little noise, shuts off when heated. It also keeps the water hot for a good while after heating and shutting off.
I do recommend this pot to anyone.

I had wanted an electric tea kettle for quite some time, but I did not want a black or red or white one. I wanted it to be stainless steel and the length of the cord was very important. I got all my wishes with this one. The cord is a bit longer than the others I'd looked at in stores. Add that to the fact that it is stainless and is very quick heating water, and you can color me very pleased with the purchase. I owned one of these a couple of years ago, and it took forever to heat a full pot of water. By forever, I mean a good 15 minutes, which I thought was a bit much. This one does it in less than ten, so far. I understand once it is broken in and used for a while, the honeymoon might be over, but for now, I'm happy, I have my hot water, and I'll update this review if this tea kettle decides to not perform as expected in the future.

Several reputable consumer tests rank the Cuisinart CPK-17 adjustable temperature tea kettle at the very top. That caught my eye. But so did its high price--almost double the also nicely designed Miroco MI-EK001. Both have the same 1.7 liter (57 ounce) capacity, with very similar features. I bought the Cuisinart first but was intrigued by the Miroco at roughly half the price so I bought it, too. I had earlier compared the Hamilton Beach 41020 to the Cuisinart but found its workmanship not nearly as good, and its lack of temperature accuracy disappointing. In my opinion, the highest quality appliances should be fairly priced, but reliable and also of long term value.

Spoiler alert! Can the Miroco compete at half the price? REMARKABLY WELL although its features are not identical. The Cuisinart does offer offer small convenience advantages depending on your household’s priorities.

Cuisinart CPK-17 vs. Miroco MI-EK001/ Design:
As you can see in the photos, both designs are similar, but not identical. The Cuisinart weighs a couple of ounces more than the Miroco, noticeable when filling when empty but not when pouring with water inside. The Miroco has a slightly wider pop up lid with two separate buttons for opening and closing. That may make the Moroco easier to fill for those with less pouring dexterity, yet both models have ample filling room.

For better balance with the Cuisinart I have to “choke up” (a baseball term) on it’s handle with my fingers over the temp controls but this has never been a problem. Before trying the Miroco, I thought its squared-off shape handle might be uncomfortable. However, since I have medium sized hands, I prefer it to the Cuisinart’s slightly more bulbous handle. All things considered, the ergonomics of the handle on the Miroco is a small advantage.

Cuisinart CPK-17 tea kettle vs. Miroco MI-EK001 / Workmanship:
This was a very pleasant surprise. When I compared the Hamilton Beach near clone of the Cuisinart, one big difference was cheaper workmanship for the HB. No so with the Moroco. Beautiful, smoothly machined and solid. Both brands are quality appliances and impressively built. Both have similar fill windows that turn a pleasant blue while on. The Cuisinart only shows liters while the Microco shows cups as well as liters. I find the Miroco slightly easier to read. While the lid designs are different, I prefer Cuisinart’s open button which can be accomplished one handed. For the Miroco, using only one hand, you can’t open the lid at the same time as holding the handle.

Cuisinart CPK-17 vs. Miroco MI-EK001 / Temp choices and features:
The two kettles have virtually the same features. As you can see in the photo, the design approaches are different. Both have a great feature that will allow you to hold the brewing temp for another 30 minutes. So, what is different between the two brands? For the Cuisinart, the keep warm feature is on by default—it can also easily be turned off—either before or after brewing. For the Miroco, the default is off and the keep warm button must be pressed manually. Due to busy mornings in our house, I prefer the Cuisinart design with the default to be on automatically. As an example, I typically wake up first, have a cup of green tea brewed at the proper 175 degrees and then wait for my wife to join me. Everything is ready to go with no additional button pushes needed. Later, we’ll pour water for oatmeal for our daughter. All can be poured at the same temp held by the kettle. However, if you typically would not need a second cup, perhaps you might prefer the Miroco approach. Turning on its keep warm feature is easy, especially before brewing.

Since we pour multiple cups, one other Cuisinart advantage we really like is a memory feature. If you take the kettle off the base, then return it to the base within a couple of minutes, the Cuisinart keeps the temperature and hold setting. As soon as the Miroco is removed to pour, when returned to the base, the tea kettle is fully shut off. This may be a disadvantage for some. However, to get back to the settings to hold the kettle for 30 minutes longer requires a few quick button presses, easy to do in only takes a couple of seconds. You just need to get in the habit of remembering.

Cuisinart CPK-17 vs. Miroco MI-EK001 / All important performance tests:
As both are 1500 watts, each has terrific, fast speed far surpassing stovetop kettles or microwave heating. For a full 1.7 liter pot (57 ounces), the Cuisinart shut off at the 212 degree boiling point in 7:06. The Miroco took 7:35. In everyday real world usage, this is not a meaningful difference yet the Cuisinart is slightly faster. For 24 ounces, the Cuisinart finished in just 3:31 and for 16 ounces, it was done in only 2:32. The Miroco was not far behind. Plenty quick all around.

At the green tea setting of 175 degrees, the Cuisinart took just 2:22 for 24 ounces, and a terrific 1:40 for 16 ounces. The Miroco finished 24 ounces in 2:40, and for 16 ounces, just 1:52.

Both of these pots are very well insulated. Even an hour or two after turning off, the water inside is still plenty hot. If initially set to boil, a full hour after turning off the Moroco is still at 178, while the Cuisinart is slightly cooler at 167. Each can be brought back to a full boil in just a minute or two, depending on how much water is inside.

Cuisinart CPK-17 vs. Miroco MI-EK001 / Temperature consistency:
When brewing to 212 degrees, both brands hit the boiling point and are ready to pour. Yet, it is likely that in buying a versatile temp variable kettle like these, you may also care about consistency at different temperatures, and in using the keep warm setting. For example, Chinese green teas are best brewed between 170 and 180, while delicate Japanese Senchas benefit from 10 degrees cooler yet. When using each kettle’s 175 degree setting for green tea, as soon as the brewer beeped and stopped, I used a Thermapen instant read thermometer and learned the Cuisinart measured 176 degrees. Excelllent performance indeed!

For the same test at the 175 degree setting, the Miroco was 182 degrees but quickly dropped down into the mid to upper 170s. Whatever your preferred brewing temp, keep in mind that as soon as the water hits your cup, it will cool slightly more. Thus, the Miroco’s performance was also quite good—far more consistent than the less than satisfying Hamilton Beach clone of the Cuisinart I reviewed earlier.

What about temp consistency using keep warm feature? Once desired temp is reached, each kettle will sit idle until the internal water temp drops 6-8 degrees. Then a sensor kicks in, very briefly turns on the kettle for mere seconds, bringing the temp back in range. Both brands did well using the keep warm setting.

Cuisinart CPK-17 vs. Miroco MI-EK001 / Warranty and the long term:
Although Cuisinart has a laudable three-year warranty, several reviewers here complain that obtaining warranty service can be cumbersome and that the units sometimes go out before the warranty has expired. The buyer must pay for warranty shipping both ways. I paid $4 extra for the Assurant extended warranty. However, most warranties of this type only kick in after manufacturer warranty expires. Keeping fingers crossed! We own four Cuisinart small kitchen appliances and have never needed warranty service, happily. My original Cuisinart food processor works great after 30 years.

Concerning the CPK-17 kettle, several reviews state the number markings can rub off in time. This is not a concern with Miroco’s design—the markings lie beneath an acetate covering. Miroco’s warranty is 18 months warranty plus an 18-month extension with registration.

Cuisinart CPK-17 vs. Miroco MI-EK001 / Conclusion: These are both five star machines. We are keeping the Cuisinart at our main home and the Miroco at our vacation home. The differences between Cuisinart and Miroco are mainly differentiated by three things: 1) The keep warm feature is the automatic default for the Cuisinart but can easily turned on with the Miroco. 2) The Cuisinart has a handy two-minute memory feature that remembers the keep warm temp setting if the kettle is removed, then returned to the base. 3) If those features are considered crucial to some, the Cuisinart runs nearly double the cost, yet is well known brand name with a long term track record.

March 2019: I really like this kettle. We drink a lot of varieties of tea and many of them require different water temperature for ultimate brewing. This pot works perfectly. For delicate teas, 160 degrees, for green tea, 175 degrees, for white tea 185, oolong, 195, for French press an boiling for black tea. This really is the perfect kettle except for one thing. The opening at the top is rather narrow. I’d like to use the filtered water from my fridge but I can only do it if I fill it from the spout. It’s a bit awkward. Also the narrow opening makes it very difficult to clean. It’s hard to get a brush in there and scrub properly. Other than that it’s great.

UPDATE-February 16, 2021: The controller in the handle went out and would not let me make a temperature selection. It would only heat to 160 degrees. Called Cuisinart and they are sending a new replacement kettle immediately. Great customer service! I wish the previous pot had not broken but am glad to get a replacement product!

UPDATE-February 25, 2021. They failed to send me an RMA so I could return the damaged kettle. I called and they finally sent it. I still haven't received the replacement kettle. Just called and they said the order was placed but it was never sent out. The agent said she would send a referral so the warehouse would release the product. What is going on? I wonder if I'll ever receive it.
