good stuff. like it says, 100% pea protein. no junk soy, no junk dairy, no vegetable oils or sugar. I respect the guys out there like Anthony and Naked and Now who are making pure pea protein and not giving into the whining about taste. Folks, if you want a milkshake, go to cheesecake factory. If you want to man or woman up, throw some of this in a smoothie with banana and berries before or after you hit the gym, and the results are going to speak for themselves. Only real complaint is that the seal at the top could be better. Otherwise, I'm pleased with this.

I really like using this in soups. It has no flavor but makes a creamy texture and boost the protein content.

yosemiteexplorer

The person who is writing about how strong the flavor is has not tried other pea proteins. This is the best I've found and the "grind" is the best for mixing in water. Others I tried had a finer grind that didn't mix well.

I know people who hate the taste of plain whey powder. I don't. Pea protein is a bit stronger flavor than many other powders and, guess what, it tastes like green peas. To me the flavor is mild, but again, as I say, I don't mind plain whey powder either and I have friends who gag on it. In any case, if I want something delicious, I buy Haagen Daaz Mint Chip, not a pea protein powder. This is about meeting protein needs that I should meet with real food, but don't.

The best vegan protein is a 50/50 mix of rice and pea protein. I'm not personally a vegan, but am just saying that if you're looking for the best amino acid profile, that's how to get it. Some people say that it's actually a better profile than whey. I don't know about that, but it is very similar. Whether better or worse probably depends on what else you're eating and what you need.

Anyway, this is the best pea protein I've found and I match it with the NOW nutrition sprouted brown rice protein, which also mixes well and has very little flavor.

Personally, I never buy pre-mixed shakes. I find most taste disgusting and would much rather just have a mild pea flavor than that. I'm surprised by the person who didn't like the taste of this and was worried about whether it was GMO (it's not), so was going back to some vanilla shake that is probably loaded with flavoring and stevia and all kinds of things like that. No thanks!

I wish I was better at getting protein through real food, but I'm not, so I take supplements. But for me, I love it when I find supplements like this with one and only one ingredient. If I don't like the taste, I'll add my own cocoa or whatever, thank you very much.

Very sorry to see that this product is "on hold" right now because of some customer complaint. I went to the Anthony's website to buy the product, even though it costs slightly more there. I've tried enough of the other pea proteins that I'm not switching.

Update: Unlike other reviewers, I have yet to get a 'different batch' flavor (or lack thereof), consistency, color or odor. It's still at this time, the one protein powder I prefer.
_______________________________________________________________________________________
After one month, this is now on my permanent 'Go To List'.
If you're looking for no extra added anything protein powder, this is it. The flavor is bland, since there is no added flavor. The flavor isn't' sweet, since there isn't any sugar, stevia, sorbtol or anything else added to make it sweet.

What it does happen to be is 24 g. of protein with only 1 g. of carb per serving.
I add a banana and Tbs almond or peanut butter to it with a Tbs of maple syrup and the flavor is just dandy.
Mixes super fast in my Ninja gizmo.

I am adding these few lines to the top of my previously published review because I just noticed the fine print that says "not intended for weight loss." Why would they say that unless people were already using it for weight loss? Well, as it turns out, this protein product stopped me from feeling hungry all the time. When I take this with my regular meals it satisfies and lets me go an extra hour or two longer without feeling hunger. The end result is no need for between-meal snacks and I've lost weight with very little effort. Now, back to the original review.

I chose this product specifically because it avoids all the dairy by-products like whey and casein that most other protein supplements rely so heavily upon. I’ve done enough reading of books like

AddictedToAmazon

This is my absolute favorite protein. I have been using this product for a while now, approaching about a year and half now. I have purchased through Amazon 5 times now, finally graduating to the 7 lb bucket. I can't get enough of this protein. I'm one of those weird people where I'm super sensitive to other protein powders. I hate the funky aftertaste that it leaves in your mouth.. I'm not sure where it's from or what causes it, maybe it's the artificial sweeteners? Either way, I think most protein powders that my husband introduces me to taste like medicine and are really difficult for me to keep down. In addition, they make me bloat and it is so painful. This is the first protein powder that doesn't do this. The second one I discovered was hemp protein, but this is my favorite one by far because it does not alter the taste. It has NO taste. Therefore, you can virtually mix it into ANYTHING, adding protein to keep you full longer. It's really wonderful pea protein.

I started using this because I read this as a suggestion (in combination with Amazing Grass Green Superfood) instead of blowing my money on Beach Body's Shakeology. So far, I am very satisfied with this decision!

For those who are concerned with the texture, the best way to describe it with a reference for you to compare it to (before committing to this purchase) is to the texture you get from drinking a Naked Juice: Protein Zone Mango. When I first tried this juice, it kind of bothered me there was this "chalky texture," (note--NOT the same flavor/aftertaste of this juice, just TEXTURE). After a while it kind of grows on you! I swear... now there's no other protein I'd rather have.

As I mentioned before, it keeps me feeling full with absolutely no bloating, after taste, etc. I add this into my smoothies when I don't have time to sit down for breakfast, other times I add it into my oatmeal. Whatever you add it to, add extra liquid because it definitely thickens things. Don't eat it plan without oatmeal though... I wasn't a fan of that... Definitely sweeten/flavor your oatmeal. You also shouldn't drink it with just water. This protein really is like the previous reviewer said,--use it like a blank slate.

If you just bought this and want to try one of my favorite, simple recipes, here you go:

1 c frozen strawberries
half a frozen banana
1 scoop protein powder
apple juice
ice

I use a vitamix and fill 2/3 the way with apple juice. Obviously you can add more/less to your likings.

This review was long overdue, and I've been giving it so much thought for so long. I depend on reviews before I purchase a new item, and I hope my experience will help you too. 🙂 [...] Thank you!

I just wanted to say that this pea protein is the next best thing to whey. Does it taste like whey? No. Will it have the creamy texture when it's mixed will liquids, like juice, milk, or even water? Not quite. But you have to remember this stuff is made from peas, so the basic material is going to be fibrous. If you have never tried pea protein the first thing you notice is that it has kind of a gritty texture. I promise you this sensation goes away by the third container. You just have to stick with it. Once you get use to the change in texture, it's really not objectionable at all.

People complain about the smell, but I wonder what it is they were expecting. The smell doesn't put you off at all. If you're looking for an alternative to milk based products, a good pea protein is the best game in town. Look it up for yourself. The nutrition profile is very similar to whey. You get your BCAA's along with 27 grams of protein per scoop, all of this without having to consume dairy byproducts. Go ahead and give this a try. Just be patient with getting use to the texture.

I ordered this thing

If you love to drink yellow pea, this is the product for you! Joking aside, it took me a long time to find a non-flavored/unsweetened protein powder that was palatable. I'm not generally concerned with artificial sweeteners but prefer a protein powder with the minimum of extraneous ingredients.

I tried hemp protein but it was waaay to gritty, so this was my next test. Yes, it has some pea flavor but it is mild and nutty and easily masked if its mixed with anything. The powder mixes easily and stays suspended well. From what I have read it's also a borderline "complete protein" - it has all 9 essential amino acids but is relatively low in methionine+cysteine. I'm not worried about that because I am not fully vegetarian and get protein from other sources.

Jean M.

I keep coming back because this is the best UNFLAVORED non-dairy source of protein with the largest protein punch per serving I've found. I prefer unflavored because it allows for versatility. (I dont want to be forced into drinking cookies and creme all the time for example). One scope has 25grams of pea protein. Amazing. Am writing this review as I order another jug. My only annoyance is the jug is only 1/2 filled when initially opened which is deceptive.

I've been using this pea protein as a staple protein source in my diet for over a year now, and overall I'm quite satisfied.

Let's get this out of the way first: This stuff does not taste good. I have tried adding it to smoothies, and while that does mask the taste some, the end result is a smoothie that I enjoy less. As a result, I prefer to drink this quickly mixed with just water. It's a little unpleasant, but over quickly.

The powder is very fine, and I find that it's a bit messy if you aren't very careful. It has a tendency to cling to sleeves or skin after you've reached in to the tub. It mixes okay with just a spoon, but I find it helps to break up the clumps while it's dry before adding water.

So why did I give it 5 stars? Simple: it's a non-soy plant based protein that is very high protein (~90%), low fat/carb, contains no artificial sweeteners, and has low sodium compared to other pea proteins I've found. I don't buy protein powder for a delicious snack; I buy it to hit my macronutrient goals, and this is exactly what I'm looking for. It's also reasonably priced at the time of this writing (approximately $11/pound). It would be a little unfair to penalize this product for taste given that I'm specifically looking to exclude every ingredient typically used to make these powders more palatable.

Know what you're looking for - if you want a powder that's high protein and low in carbs, fats, sodium, has no artificial sweetener, and you are willing to compromise on taste to get it, this is a good buy. If taste is more important to you, I'd probably give this a pass.

Kierra

Bought this because I'm cutting (in a cal deficit) and needed to up my protein intake to preserve muscle mass. As a vegetarian who eats mostly vegan, finding out that pea protein is comparative to whether protein without the side effects (and animal cruelty!), I was pretty stoked to try it out. I always bloat massively from whey protein and could not find a whey protein that works with my digestive system.

This, nutritionally, is amazing. I supplement with BCAA'S already but the fact that this has BCAA'S in it is a huge plus. Next to no fat or carbs but huge on protein. I bough 1lb just in case I hated it and here's my opinion:

PROS
-Great Mixibility
-Great nutritional value
-Comparitive to Whether Protein
-Vegan!

CONS
-TASTES HORRIBLE

Now I bought this specifically for it's nutritional value and I'm not insane about flavors. I've come to accept that as a vegetarian athlete, enjoying my food is long gone.

With that being said, this is one of the most disgusting things I have ever put in my mouth. Alone, that is! The first shake I had I put soymilk, a frozen banana, and a square of dark chocolate with the pea protein. Didn't taste the best but I got it down easily. The second one, the same except I threw a tbsp of almond butter in the mix. Tasted even better, got it down easily. For the last one of the day, however -- oh boy.

Because I was coming close to my sugar and fat limit, I decided to forgo the extra stuff and take it straight with a cup of soymilk. Threw it in my to go ninja cup and brought it to work. 1, it condensed in the 30 min it took to drive to work, so more liquid than 8oz is needed to keep it liquid I'm assuming. 2, when I went to drink it it was almost physically impossible not to gag. This stuff tastes like death by itself. I've never tasted something worse, honest to god. Except maybe expired, curdled milk.

Word from the wise: If you're going to buy this, make sure you put other stuff (especially fruit) in your shake or you might just throw up.

Oh, also be mindful of allergies. Apparently isolate pea protein holds a higher risk for allergens comparative to if you're allergic to soy or nuts.

Chris C.

Love it, because as an educated consumer I don't expect to buy 100% pea protein & taste Ben & Jerry's chunky Monkey. Please, Please be real people!!! What did you expect from this product? when you cook rice or peas it you have to doctor it up with salt & spices. the same with this. For pity's sake, put a frozen banana in, mix it with cashew milk or coconut milk, some Cinnamon or other healthful spices. this product is more particularly suited for people who have modified their taste buds for vegetarian, non processed lifestyles. If you regularly consume "processed" foods than you have altered/destroyed your taste-buds to find only junk food appealing. I don't mean to be snide but I am really revolted by the trashing of a product when it clearly states what it is. Please do your homework before buying this and if you don't fit the description above then you might want a more palatable product that has been doctored with a ton of ingredients to appeal to the average American taste bud. I for one, being a vegan appreciate no adulteration of the ingredients with GMO, additives, preservatives. I add my own natural & healthful sweeteners, like stevia. thank you for reading.

I just started drinking this powder a few days ago and my motto is if it tastes like crap it looks great on the body and if it tastes great well it doesn't usually look so great on the body which is why I bought this to begin with. I didn't want to mix it in my morning coffee that's how my son drinks it. Yuck! But I decided to just mix a scoop in some cold water and just stir it up and drink it and don't worry about the taste. Well I did that for 5 mornings this week and to my surprise by the 3rd day I had lost my taste for sugar and cravings! I was really surprised but that's the side affect for drinking this stuff😎 I have lost a pound and I've been working out and my energy is like the energizer bunny! It's crazy as I am a almost 5 year stroke survivor working on getting my energy back up. About the taste once I get past the first sip I can drink the rest and it taste pretty good. I ordered myself a blender that I can't wait to try so I will come back and update this review next week!😊 I say treat your body good and it will feel amazing 😎

I used Shakeology for one year a while ago. I loved what it did for my body and health.what I didn't like was what it did for my pocket, it was just too expensive. I went 3 years without drinking protein shakes, because I didn't know I could fashion something similar to Shakeology by combining a full amino acid profile protein powder with a superfood powder plus flavors like raw cocoa and matcha. I chose Orgain because of the price, to be honest. My first purchase was the Chocolate flavor and I found two scoops in 8oz of liquid made an extremely sweet shake and I couldn't drink it. So I asked for a refund (and they didn't ask me to return the used canister!) and ordered the unflavored powder plus the Orgain Superfood powder. It's a winner!! I even like the texture better than Shakeology --- Shakeology was kinda gooey 😩

I vary my smoothies, but my staple recipe is:

1 frozen Banana (bananas ripen too fast, so I freeze them in ziplock bags)
1/2 cup frozen mixed berries
2 tbsp Peanut or nut butter
2 scoops Orgain
1 scoop Orgain Superfood Powder
1 tbsp raw cacao
10 oz Almond milk

It's freaking delicious and filling, plus I noticed less bloating.

Absolutely recommended 😊

Tony

I've been using this for about a year. I have tried about everything out there and
for the money...and being plant based...in my opinion it's right up there with
the top name brands; for a lot less cost. I mix it with Organic raspberries, blueberries, 1/2 of
banana, Green Vibrance and self ground Flax Seed; plus some high potency mutli vitamins with
minerals and Ubiqunol. I usually am never tired and have energy that keeps me going until
fairly late at night.I'm going to be 70 and something has to be helping me and I believe it is
this regiment. Good luck and God Bless

I'm a bodybuilder that recently started eating a vegan diet, and this protein has been a fantastic replacement for whey protein. This stuff doesn't have any extra chemicals or additives, so it does taste bad. I mash up two bananas in a bowl and mix in 30g of this stuff to create a delicious protein banana pudding (note that using 1 banana will not completely hide the pea flavor, which is nasty imho).

Also, the serving size indicates that a tablespoon weighs about 10g, but I found it only weighs about 7g using my calibrated food scale. If you're finicky about this kind of stuff, make sure to find your own "scooper" such that it meets the grams of powder you need to reach your goals.

Oh, and the fact that you can get almost 5 pounds for $30 bucks is a steal! Whey protein costs twice as much and is loaded with extra crap you don't need. And "naked whey" is a complete hustle at $90 for a 5 lb bottle.

bpositive

Most protein powders are anywhere from $1.50 to over $2 per 24-ish grams of protein. This one is right around 51 cents per 24 grams of protein (3 servings of 8gm per serving). Very affordable, no flavor and mixes well into smoothies. I bought the Terrasoul Organic Brown Rice Protein as well and mixed them both up for a more complete amino acid profile. This works out to about $16 per month for daily intake of 24 grams of protein. Super affordable! Highly recommended.

Lisa

Well it's arrived, and having read the reviews, it lives up to the good review expectations. Great in my smoothie, no aftertaste to speak of! I say buy it!
Now, my message to Lonestaryankee, who gave this only two stars DESPITE admitting the actual product was just fine... you marked it down because you made a mess in your corporate setting, when really all you should have done was decant it into a container (with a wide opening for your obvious cluster@&$?-edness). I use an oxo pop top container, try it! Not corporate enough, cover the container in your corporate logo or something, I don't know!
Oh, when I decanted it into said container, I prepared myself for the yellow flour-like explosion you complained of, I wore my painting clothes, sealed all the exits from my kitchen with zipwall plastic, and went for it. To my shock, I didn't spoil a drop on my surfaces, and lived long enough to write this review. My conclusion, your middle name is princess.
To all others, this product is no messier than your average Joe protein powders. A good buy for sure.
To the supplier... feel free to send me a 5lb bag for this awesome review.
Peace, Out.

I’ve had my fair share of protein shakes. And not many are pleasant but this is definitely my favorite. I’ve tried this and dark chocolate and both are great tasting. I don’t need to look for another protein this is what I’ve been looking for- plant based, low carb, clean ingredients.

Elli

I’ve tried nearly every plant based protein powder on the market. After years and years of searching, I still have not found the perfect one. While, I’m not a huge fan of the vega’s sport or all-in-one replacement powders, this one NAILED IT. I got the Caramel Toffee flavor, which is AMAZING. Texture of the powder was good, easy to dissolve, etc. I literally have no complaints besides the fact that it doesn’t come in a larger size! I would also like my scoop size to be worth 20g of protein instead of 15g :).

CleverReviewName

Both: Not too sweet, despite having real sugar. I love that this isn't full of artificial junk. Blends in shaker cup easily. Open it somewhere you can easily clean. It is a light-weight powder and can make a mess if you aren't careful. y only problem, which is true of all Vega protein is this: why can't the scoop be attached to the side or lid? Other companies have found ways to do this and still keep the containers sealed. I prefer Vega, but gosh, it would be nice to not be fishing out the scoop.

Caramel Toffee Flavor : The caramel-toffee flavor was very light and not heavily sweet or intense. I like to add a scoop to my other less tasty protein powders because this improves them.

Strawberry Banana: I saw a lot of happy reviews for this. I am not sure I like it as much as the other flavors. It isn't bad tasting, and it has real, actual, dried strawberry and banana in it for flavor. It reminds me of dried strawberries and banana chips. I imagine blending this with fruit would be amazing. I understand why people like it, but it isn't my favorite since I drink them in plain water.

My doctor wanted me to get away from eating so many carbs for breakfast (I’m a cereal everyday kind of girl). I also work out nearly everyday, so I’m in need of fuel, and a Flight Attendant, so I’m in need of quick and easy. This product delivers all of the above. I’ve been using it as a breakfast meal replacement and I’ve been impressed by how long it actually holds me over. When I’m flying I pack enough powder for my trip and my blender cup, and can sip it while I get ready for work. At home I sit and enjoy it with my coffee, then work out. Convenience wise, this stuff is awesome! I do add a little cinnamon to it for extra flavor. On a side note: I do have to continue to shake the blender bottle in between sips due to settlement on the bottom.

Taste: my first purchase was the vanilla and it’s good! It’s not the most amazing thing I’ve had in my life, but it’s not bad at all. Besides cinnamon I only add water. It’s creamy and not gritty. I love that it has loads of protein in it too. It’s very comparable to Shakeology (I think it may have more protein and less carbs than shakeology). I love Shakeology, but not the price. For a month, they’re wanting $130. Sorry, but it’s not worth paying that much for essentially the same product. I will be buying this product again, next time I’m going to try the chocolate. I do wish they had more flavors though!

I've used this protein powder for years and I like it because it doesn't congest the system like many whey proteins do. It's also naturally sweetened, no maltitol or other artificial sweeteners. I blend it with frozen berries, coconut milk and water (sometime through in a little yogurt) and it tastes great. I use it for part of my breakfast a few times a week, along with a small bowl of quinoa, maple syrup and walnuts. If you just want to drink it with water you're going to have to gulp it down, but a few very small healthy additions makes it great. As the author of a book on nutrition and weight loss, I highly recommend this product!!

OK so let's get this straight, this protein is NOT like other protein shakes; when i say that, i mean it doesn't taste sweet and does not have a yummy vanilla taste that we are all imagining. In fact, it doesn't even taste like "vanilla". If tasted on it's own, it tastes like cardboard. But don't let that scare you away from buying this product. Hey, what do you expect? It's ORGANIC. For this reason, it doesn't include all those unhealthy artificial flavors- which is why it tastes so bland. In order to really mask the taste & truly enjoy this protein powder, add fruits, coconut milk, honey, etc. Look up different smoothie recipes on google. I personally love this organic protein. I drink it everyday after i work out and even serves as a meal replacement when I drink it as a smoothie. It is very filling because it makes the smoothies I make very thick yet it doesn't leave me feeling bloated. Plus, the price for the amount your receive is WORTH it! Other organic protein powders are waaay too expensive... hope this helps you make your decision about your purchase.

Bought the Bulk Supplements.com Clean & Pure Bulk Supplements Pea Protein over a week ago. I have purchased protein powder before, but this is my first time purchasing a single ingredient (without all of the additional fillers). This is also the first time I've purchased from Bulk Supplements.com. I already own several different types of pea protein powder mixes. But I like the idea of being able to make one on my own, basically customized to my needs/ wants. I also liked the idea of it being 100% product without any allergens. So I wanted to give it a try.
Strengths:
*This is 100% pea protein. There are no other added ingredients.
* The size of the bag is 1 kilogram or 2.21 pounds.
* It has 33 servings, of which each serving contains 110 calories and 24 gm of protein. It also contains iron, sodium, and potassium.
* It comes in a heavy plastic bag that is lined with foiled and clear plastic for appropriate storage.
* It mixes easily into liquids, via spoon, smoothie shaker, or blender.
* The taste is very mild.
* Incredible value.
Weaknesses:
* It does not contain a scooper, like most powder proteins
* You need to be creative, with what you mix it in. Juice and coconut milk has worked well so far.
* There are not clear directions on how it is recommended that you take it, nor how much to take.
Final Thoughts:
I am very excited to find this company, in which I can combine multiple supplements that are 100% from the natural source, and free of fillers. The price point is very reasonable. I am hopeful to find some recipes that will state how much to use and other ingredients to make a great tasting and healthy protein shake!

Let's be honest: pea protein doesn't dissolve well and is not the best-tasting vegetarian protein source out there. Now that we've gotten that out of the way... this pea protein powder is of excellent quality, doesn't taste any worse than the purest pea protein powders out there (I personally don't have a problem with it, even though I don't like peas that much) and comes at a great price (only Trader Joe can do better when it comes to freshness, quality and price).

Besides being an excellent source of protein (almost half of your daily value per serving), pea doesn't have any of the problems associated with some other vegetarian proteins like soy and rice, like high oxalate level. That makes it a good choice for people with Celiac, gluten sensitivity or on a low-oxalate diet because of kidney stones, fibromyalgia, vulvodynia, etc.

Tip: If you don't like the taste of it, try adding a few drops of vanilla extract and a little bit of honey. I blend it with that, a banana and 16 oz. of milk, and it keeps me full for a very long time.

Tasteless pea protein that's been doing me right. I've completely moved away from milk based proteins in the morning and this is one of my go to favorites! I also drink soy based protein sometimes but honestly, moving away from animal based proteins means I've started eating quite a bit of tofu and tempeh meals so getting an affordable protein that isn't more soy is a god send. This vendor is also currently offering free samples of all of the supplements they offer with every purchase, they send an email telling you how to get a sample after you order so you can try all kinds of supplements that you probably don't want to spend $20 on to find out you don't like them.

This is my second container of Pea Protein from this company and the quality and flavor have been fine. I will use it again. I have one comment, however, on the measurement of a serving. The table says one scoop = a 41g serving. The scoop in my first order only measured 23 grams, I adjusted for the error by weighing each serving. Now, the scoop in my second order was huge. When I used it to weigh out a one scoop serving it came in at 83 grams, more than twice the 41g serving size. I now use a scoop from a previous protein (soy) that I had been using that (strangely enough) measures a 41 gram serving. Check the size of your serving. Otherwise, it seems to be a great product.

Great tase if you like vanilla 👍🏾. Great for building and feeding your muscle a natural plant bases protein without pieces of animal in it. I see a huge difference in my petite frame. My muscle are now more defined and have increased in size which is exactly what this is for. Gives me energy and keeps me feeling satisfied. It’s grway over all for me.

This is delicious. We mix it with Vanilla Almond silk, we add some other spices that are good for diabetes like cinnamon, and cacao, etc. It is almost like having a desert but only healthier.
