Whirlpool WHESFC Pro Series – Softener/Whole Home Filter Hybrid, Gray

  • Save Money With A 2-in-1 System: Remove hard water minerals and harmful contaminants for families of 1-to-5 with one single-tank system instead of buying 2 separate systems.
  • Superior Hardness Removal: This hybrid water softener/filter has a 31, 000 grain capacity, an above average hardness removal rating of 120 grains per gallon, and an iron removal rating of 3 ppm which helps reduce reddish-brown stains on drains and water using appliances.
  • Water Contaminant Reduction: This whole home filtration system reduces sediment, chlorine taste, and odor from the water used throughout your entire home.
  • Efficiently Use Salt: The WHESFC is a smart water softener, meaning it uses demand-initiated regeneration technology to produce soft water as your home needs it, reducing salt costs over the life of the system.
  • Designed, engineered and assembled in the USA. Questions Call the Whirlpool helpline
  • No Filter to Replace: The WHESFC Pro Series Hybrid cleans its own filter as needed — you will never have to replace the filter.
  • Uses up to 25% less salt and water than previous Whirlpool models by monitoring your water usage and only regenerating when necessary. Older timer-based models regenerate on a set cycle regardless of how much water you’ve used; which can result in unnecessary water and salt consumption.

This water softener is a no brainer for the price. My family of four lives in a three story four bedroom three bathroom Dutch colonial, and the water quality is noticeably better immediately upon installation. Our dishes and glasses used to come out of the wash with white stains on them from all the mineral deposits, but they are crystal clear now with the WHEFSC Pro Series installed. The whole house filtration function is a great bonus at this price. I really enjoy drinking water straight from the tap. It’s immaculately clear and has a noticeably improved taste. Install was a breeze with PEX. Just be sure to install it on your main line into the house, downstream of the outdoor split but upstream of the water heater. Programming was extremely simple as well. One thing to note, Whirlpool wants you to run a recharge with 6TBSP of bleach prior to use. This takes about two hours, and then you need to keep a faucet open for thirty more minutes to run out any residual bleach. I wasn’t thrilled with this process and had to keep the family away from the water for 2.5 hrs. However, beyond that minor setup quirk, the unit is exceeding expectations! I would say as far as value goes, you cannot go wrong with this softener/filter.

This was a very easy install, I would recommend getting SharkBite hoses to make it even easier. This unit has "standard" water softener connectors, which are weird pressure connectors with clips. But this unit also includes adapters to 1" NPT. The Sharkbite hose can go from any pipe to 1" NPT, and the Whirlpool bypass valve and connection to the unit were easy and worked great. Keep in mind that with Sharkbite you generally only get one bite of the pipe so be sure the pipe is good and clean and where you want it before installing.

The softener works well and the water is obviously soft right away. I didn't test the actual level yet, but will do so when everything has had a chance to settle in the pipes and fixtures. My hot water tanks even started to "clean" as they poured out rusty water for a while. Apparently that will happen as the softer water slowly breaks down old buildup.

The design of this unit is tried and true. It is 90% the same as the 20 year old unit I was replacing. Same parts, same procedures. This unit has upgrades that my old unit didn't have, better/clearer electronics, etc but is generally a simple device. I bet almost all of the cost for this unit is for the brine tank, which does all the softening and filtering.

The only thing I was missing was a way to read the Gallons Per Day usage. The unit knows how much water is being used and my old unit allowed you to check, which was an easy way to know if there was a leak somewhere in the house. But this unit has no way to read this, that I know of.

I never installed one of these before so I followed the directions exactly, and they were mostly good. The biggest issue was the section on sanitizing with bleach. The directions tell you to add salt and do some other things, then there is the bleach section, implying that is the next step. But after I did this, all of the salt smelled of bleach and needed a few regens to get rid of. I think a better way would be to only sanitize when empty of salt, but I am still not sure which is correct. Regardless, there was never enough bleach to smell anything in any faucet, since the brine is such a small portion of the water that ends up there, and the unit filters bleach anyway.

For the price it really can't be beat. Any place near me with the fancier softeners was several thousands to buy/install. And when all you are doing is making salty water, simple is better.

My 20 year old Kenmore water softener gave up the ghost so I replaced it with this Whirlpool unit. The Amazon truck driver delivered it to my garage. It was VERY well packaged. I had my doubts about getting a 117# softener safely delivered by Amazon but it went perfectly. Double boxed and strapped. The inner tank was foam blocked so that the resin tank wouldn't shift around. All parts were there. 5 stars to Whirlpool. Ordered on a Saturday, delivered Monday morning. Can't beat that.
The unit married up to my existing bypass valve from 20 years ago. Height and spacing was identical to the old unit. The new bypass valve is an exact copy of the older Kenmore valve. The only mod I had to make was to the discharge fitting. The unit comes with a 3/8 in. right angle tubing barb. My old unit has a 3/4 in. male hose fitting. I just pulled the retaining clip, removed the tubing barb and set in the old hose fitting. There is a 2 GPM inner reduction nozzle that was reused also.
Following the setup instructions went smoothly. I did a tank flush for 5 mins to clean out any carbon fines. Loaded up a bag of potassium chloride and buttoned it up. Nice soft water again, Disposing of the old softener is going to be more difficult. But I have a plan.

My older Whirlpool water softener died after years of excellent service. After looking around, I found the best delivered price on a new one at Amazon. I had two plumbers give me installation estimates, the cheapest of which was $785.00. Seemed like a whole lot of money to move the shipping box from the garage to the basement, open the box, disconnect the old water softener, and hook up the new one. So, I decided to do it myself. It took me about 45 minutes total. I am a 75 year old woman!!!!

Reached out to 5+ local plumbers and got quoted $400-500 labor only! I ended up saving hundreds of dollars of labor by installing it myself! Parts costed me about $180 but that’s because I did the 3-valve bypass setup + a hose valve for access to soft water in the garage. Simpler setup should cost less than $80 in parts. I watched a ton of videos on Youtube and researched a bunch. I recommend using PEX pipes and clamps (not crimps). Go with PEX-a and expansion fittings if you have access to a PEX-a expansion tool (expensive!) and know where to buy PEX-a pipes.

Took some time to do an initial flush to remove all the air trapped in the pipes and air bubbles from the softener. Setup/programming is very straight forward.

I looked up the city water hardness published by the county (14 grains) and decided to set 16 grains in the softener because my area is harder than average. I ordered a test kit from Home Depot and the result is amazing. Hardness went down to 3 grains or less! I’m surprised it removes chlorine and copper from my water as well! I bumped the setting from 16 grains to 18 grains to remove a little more hardness.

This is a good unit and well worth the price. Works as intended! I only wish the instructions provided were a little clearer. From the instructions I could not figure out which way to place the by-pass valve so my unit was in the wrong setting so it took a day before I downloaded the manual from on-line and found the correct position for the valve and then the unit worked as advertised. It's a shame that a company builds such a good unit and delivers it at a fair price but lets you hanging on a piece of instruction that is so simple to provide - common man you can do better than that! It literally took me about 10 minutes to remove the old unit and less than 1 hour to install this unit with all new fittings and water lines (never reuse the old stuff), but it took me 24 hours to get soft water because of the less than stellar instructions provided for the position of the by-pass valve. I highly recommend this unit, but do download the manual for installation from on-line so you don't have to rely on the stupid directions that are provided and misleading when it comes to the by-pass valve.

After getting two professional quotes and doing research on several DIY units, I decided on this Aquatrol system (not to be confused with AUTOtrol, which most everyone advised me to stay away from). It turns out that this Aquatrol is based on the Fleck, making it easy to find replacement parts if ever necessary, but the interface on the control head is WAY more intuitive and informative than the Fleck display.

Offering a great price on the system, but having zero reviews, I took a chance on this seller. I called them in advance and they were great at providing guidance in selecting he right system and providing technical detail. When FedEx delivered the system , everything was well packaged and intact. They included the original Aquatrol user guide, as well as a very detailed and well illustrated self installation and programming guide. Installation was simple and everything worked as expected. The day after installation, the water test showed that my hardness dropped from 11 grains to 1. So happy!

Quick note: When it comes to programming, there are 8 setting that determine how the system operates - 3 of the settings need to set for your specific water quality and usage requirements, while the other 5 should remain at their defaults. I wish this were explained in the instructions so I didn't have to spend an hour researching the setting for those 5 defaults.

I found the answers and help with installation programming on YouTube by googling "Aquatrol Installation." The first three videos in the results were everything I needed.

I purchased this a year ago and have waited to have a good timeline in which to use it. All I can say is how very pleased we are with this softener. It was reasonably priced and has proven to be a terrific investment.

First I had to build a new closet for this to be in. I then had to run pipes into, and make a floor drain in, the location shown in the pictures. The Aquasure arrived in extremely secure packaging, quickly, and safely. Once I was ready to install the unit it was easy to hook up, program, and start the first regeneration.

We had a single cabinet unit that I replaced with the Aquasure. That one was fairly new and though I could have sold it through an online list, we took the thing to local dump instead as it was poorly designed, used salt excessively, and needed constant gear adjusting.

I mentioned all of that to say that after a year we’ve had not one issue with the Aquasure, have saved a ton of money on salt, and have even purer water than we had with the old one.

I also want to salute the customer service people. They are great! If you leave a message they call you right back. After buying it, I realized they had shipped 3/4 inch connectors by mistake and I had plumbed for 1 inch. Well, one call and I had the right connectors two days later! No charge. And if I had any questions about programming or advice I was treated respectfully, courteously, and in a very friendly, competent, and professional way. So kudos to the Customer Service Crew!

All in all, I would not hesitate to recommend this to anyone! After a year, I can say this is the best system we’ve ever had, and would buy it again without a second thought. Hope this review helps.

2 weeks since install:
I had researched water softeners for some time and came across these on Amazon. Ratings for the Aquasure line were high and most of the feedback was positive.
I installed the water softener myself after receiving it. It is a big unit. It does come with the beads loaded into the canister so no worries about having to do that yourself. The instruction book that comes with the product was excellent in showing you the steps on how to assemble the components. There were a couple of drawbacks from giving the "easy to install" 5 stars. My water softener came from the factory with an o-ring that had been pinched on a connection to the head unit. Although you have to assemble the valve body to the head unit, the valve body plugs into an intermediate piece that also plugs into the head unit. This intermediate piece comes already assembled to the head unit. So after getting everything hooked up and the water on I had a leak at the pinched o-ring. Long story short I was able to disconnect the interface, lube the o-ring and reassemble with no further issues.
The water is now soft, although our city water is not particularly hard, but it does make a difference in the feel of showering, washing clothes, and dishes coming out of the dish washer. So far very happy with the product and the quality of materials provided.

I would recommend taking the discharge hose out of the box when it first arrives and allowing it to relax by uncoiling it.

Also recommend getting the SharkBite U3086FLEX24LFA Water Softener Connector, 3/4 Inch to 1 Inch FNPT x 24 Inch, Push-to-Connect COPPER, PEX, CPVC, Braided Stainless Steel lines. Home Depot carries them. Made the hook up to the water lines super easy. They make a corrugated version, but it's not as flexible.

I had a whirlpool salt softener that was 40k grains and 8 years was still working but unbeknownst to me, someone had changed the salt setting down to 12 a few years back and I thought it was not working....well, it was working but not properly because someone changed the salt I bought this to replace it. I set it at 25 and it works great. It will take time until your hot water heater fills completely with the softened water, but cold should be ready to go after installation. I had a plumber switch this out for me in my softener loop. Immediately after and for 2-3 days, my water smelled and tested like acetone and I could not figure this out! I was scared to use the water. FYI, this was the pvc glue that was used and it took 2-3 days for it to completely cure? and wash away. Yes, I let the cold water run for an hour, but the taste/odor was still there until a few days later. If this should happen to you, just know that you have to wait a few days, and I would NOT NOT NOT use the hot water during this time as you don't want that in your hot water heater!! My plumber happens to be immune to this scent as he works with it every day. I happen to be hyper sensitive to it. It does go away though!

UPDATE! I just had a different plumber add a whole house sediment and charcoal/chlorine filter to the softener loop which is all pvc. Those need to be added BEFORE the softener. This plumber waited the CORRECT amount of time for the pvc glue to cure before turning on the water, at least half an hour. The result is there is NO primer/glue odor or taste in the water at all!! Make sure you give the glue plenty of time to cure and dry or make your plumber give it the correct amount of time before turning on the water.

So, it works good. If you need to adjust the salt hardness level, just know that this model only allows you to do this in increments of 5 above 25. I have it now set at 25 and my next option higher would be 30. At settings below 25, this changes in increments of 1 (10,11,12,13...) My hair no longer feels like straw and my shower is CLEAN. I can't live without a salt softener. There are just way too many benefits and the water does NOT taste salty. My appliances and fixtures will last forever without leaking or premature failure. Clothes are cleaner and not stiff. I could go on and on all day about the benefits of a salt softener, and I tried one that wraps around your water lines.....straight back to the salt softener for me!! This was the cheapest replacement I could find and my whirlpool was working still after 8 years which is very similar to this ge.

Update: This has been in use for about a month now. The thing I like most abut this unit is it has a display of when you will run out of salt! love this! I have the salt level on 2 and it is expected to run out in 90 days! This does NOT waste the salt. I would put the salt higher than 2, but I don't want to get a salt dam or salt bridge, so I just check it every few weeks and will add another bag when it looks too low.

For those of you who may be worried about adding salt to the water, this does not. The ion exchange happens in the softer's filter and it does NOT add salt to the water on any tap in the home. I tested the salinity of the water on all taps against the outside tap that is not connected to the water softener and the salinity is the same, 170ppm. Tested against a neighbor too on the same city water but without a softener, their results are 182ppm of salt. That is just what the city gives us, which is under the federal recommended standards of 200ppm. I do have an RO system in the kitchen, but I have that mainly for the fluoride, but the salt reading at that tap is 20ppm or lower depending on how long it runs.

Carlos F.

Read the instructions. You need to sanitize and flush it before use. Even after that you will get some funky plastic flavor coming out of it. It lasted a week or two (it is only me in the house with very little water use) for the taste/smell to go away. Otherwise it works as expected, with no salt taste.
Installation: This is my 3rd self-installed softener. Installation instructions are very complete and all parts come included. I strongly suggest flexible water lines to connect to the softener as it will be much easier if you have to replace it one day, plus pipe positioning will be a breeze. For those replacing old water softeners make sure you do not use the old power supply as this one is DC.

This is a nice unit.
Easy to program.
Uses less salt than our previous unit.
Looks good.
Comes with everything to hook up.
Very pleased

Bought this to replace a Kenmore we bought in 1999. It was an exact replacement to the Model200, so much so all I did was replace the "o" rings on the bypass valve and plugged the new softener in. It works great. Had 6 bags of salt delivered from Home Depot and in a few hours had the new one on. Delivery from Amazon was fast . I took the old one out because the resin tank split longitudinally. Did not realize that and had bought the motor and switch and gasket set. Thankfully they are exact parts the new softener is built with so they will be available in the future.

Exact size replacement for my 25-year-old softener. Fit perfectly. The brine well screw had fell out during shipping and the wing nut was missing. I scavenged the wing nut from the old unit. Some plastic debris was in the tank from the drilling of the overflow hole. I vacuumed that out. I'm happy with the purchase.

Clean, good water as soon as product was installed. However, delivery truck ran off the driveway on several places, smashed down edges of new blacktop and left tracks in the grass.

We live in a rural neighborhood everyone is on a well. The water is full of calcium and other minerals plus we get lots of sediment and rust.
The dishwasher doesn’t work and everything gets covered with mineral deposits
I have installed several sediment and carbon filters but they don’t remove the minerals that prevent the water from cleaning. We had a water softener but hate the way it feels and don’t want to deal with the bags of salt.
I have looked at many options and cost and reviews have turned me away.
R.O.units use much too much water.
We purchased the whole house descaler from AO Smith (they have been in business for ever by the way) and it works!!!
I installed it after my filers I have a 50 micron screen a 10 micron a 5 micron and a carbon
We instantly saw a huge improvement. We can now drink the water from the faucet. Our dishwasher actually cleans the dishes. Our shower doors are no longer covered with spots.
This is the best deal in water treatment you can get.
You must have the prefilters AO makes one I just used what I had because it was within Their specification. For less than $400 you can’t go wrong with this filter. We have had it in use for about 2-3 months, they say it works for 6 years and it has a guarantee.

I finally got around to having this installed by a plumber in my water softener loop. I had one that was 8 years old (another MFR) that I recently removed and decided that I NEEDED a chlorine filter. My old one was about 4 feet high and I wasn't sure if I needed to replace it or not, but I felt after 8 years, it must be due. I flushed this with the garden hose and the water was running clear in less than 10 minutes, so that was easy. What took me so long to install this was actually the plumber I was using. He had been to my home for a water softener and then again to remove the old chlorine filter. After BOTH visits, my water tasted and smelled like acetone for about 3 days even after flushing for over an hour. Well, I will tell you WHY this happened. The original plumber was in a rush and did not let the pvc primers/glue cure and completely dry enough before turning the water back on! I got a new plumber who waited about 45 minutes for it to cure and smell or taste in the water! If you are doing this yourself or hiring someone, make sure you/they wait more than enough time for it to cure and dry COMPLETELY. If your water smells or tastes like acetone, there was not enough time given to dry/cure. And in my case 15-20 minutes was not enough time but 45 minutes worked well. If you get the smell/taste of acetone after turning the water on, the only thing you can do is wait it out, about 2-3 full days.
The thing I noticed about this filter is that it is made by the same manufacturer that makes Aquasana filters. How do I know this? It was on the shipping label from the MFR to Amazon, then Amazon to me (there were 2 labels on the box) These exact filters are sold in lowes too for the same price here, but you don't have to lug it around and you may save on sales tax ordering online. I thought they were much heavier than they actually are which is why I ordered here.
It works well, I smell no chlorine on any tap in the house. I also installed a pre-filter, (AO smith as well) that I picked up locally and installed that BEFORE this charcoal filter to get any sediment and rust particles from the city water. Yes, city water does have it and after one day, you can see the prefilter is no longer pristine white. After 3 days the prefilter is a light orange and I NEVER had a visible rust problem in my home. Now I know why my salt softener filter was slightly orange after a month! rust in the water. AFTER the charcoal filter is my salt water softener. I will absolutely buy this filter again in 6 years when it comes time to replace it. Great filter, great price, Amazon convenience and customer service if you need it.

I have the A.O. Smith 40,000 grain softener with potassium instead of sodium, an A.O. Smith whole house carbon filter, and this conditioner unit.

My well water has about 28 GPG hardness, so I have the softener exchanging out about 25 GPG with the potassium, leaving about 3 GPG of vital minerals to go through the conditioner, then polished off through the carbon filter.

I installed everything myself, and I'm no plumber, so the feng shui of the wash room is nothing to write home about, but our water is as good as any bottle, and our dishes look immaculate.

This a Quality system, had my plumber install and he said he would buy this unit for himself. Well packaged and great service from the seller.

Donald Brooks

Product wasn’t very difficult to install- had to redo plumbing but that’s expected.

I installed a pre filter and post filter.

Water was 950 mg/l harness before system install (I have test equipment), and the hardness dropped to 5 mg/l. Can’t wait until my hot water heater replenishes (48 hours to replenish) to resort a shower)

Definitely recommend I have 48000 unit)

I had a 2003 Sears Kenmore UltraSoft 250 that was an identical twin in shape and dimensions to this EcoPure unit. I wanted it to fit an existing space and to match my plumbing hook-ups. The total time to disconnect and reconnect was under 30min. The shipping of this 100lb item was my only concern. The box came in good condition but the heavy tank had shifted and broke off a small piece of the tabs that center the take head. The cardboard packing materials were not sufficient to protect the product from a UPS person from bouncing it around. The broken part in no way affected the performance or operation after installation. Overall I very pleased with the product and ease of installation.

I ordered this softener/filter system for my condo. It was so easy to install. Every part needed for the install was included. I could have used PEX or copper, but I had CPVC, so that is what I used to install the system. I had went to the local big box and they had a unit, for $850 and not nearly the capacity. I ordered online and had it within three days. Once I mapped out my piping diagram, it was easy. One line in, one line out. I am still tweaking in the right softness level, but it is noticeably softer on the skin.

I needed to replace my 18 year old Kenmore water softener and started searching for a replacement. This was an almost exact replacement except that it is 1/2" taller. I just cut a 1/2" section out of the two copper pipes and rejoined them with a coupler.
I called Ecopure and found out that they are the actual manufacturers of the Kenmore, Whirlpool, Ecopure and possibly Hotpoint water softeners. They were extremely helpful in finding which model would be the best replacement for my existing one.
The unit that I received had some hidden shipping damage inside that I didn't see until installation was almost complete. The lady (same one as my previous phone call) was so helpful again and sent me the replacement parts at no charge.
The support people at Ecopure actually answer the phone and return calls which is so rare these days.
The units are made in the USA and I highly recommend the company and any of the water softners that they make.
While I have previous plumbing experience, I would recommend that most people have a plumber install this for you. My biggest problem was getting rid of the old unit since our trash company wouldn't accept it and the unit is extremely heavy after the resin bed is full of water.

Capacitive Electronic Water Descaler System - Alternative Water Softener Salt Free for Whole House, Reduces the effects of Limescale [CWD24, Max 1" Pipe]

  • HOW IT WORKS BETTER: Yarna CWD24 is a Patented Water Descaler System designed to treat water for the whole house! Our descaling system treats water with electric pulses generated within the electronic unit and controlled by a micro-chip. These pulses are transmitted via our Ultra Flat Impulse Bands that are wrapped around the pipe and change the crystals in the water as it flows by, allowing for the breakdown of crystals that would otherwise buildup into limescale, which can break appliances.
  • WHO BENEFITS FROM YARNA: We serve homeowners and small businesses by reducing the negative effects of hard water and protecting appliances. Our customers report cleaner pipes and faucets, lower costs for descaling and heating, and better overall water quality. Depending on the current condition of your plumbing and how large existing limescale deposits are, it may take up to three months to observe a significant improvement.
  • EASY, CLEAN INSTALLATION: All you need is access to a minimum of 10″ of free pipe space with a maximum pipe diameter of 1″. Yarna water descaling system is completely DIY with no need for any tools or specialized help. Installation is simple, takes only 15 minutes and is 100% maintenance free. Our whole house water descaler works with any type of piping up to 1″ thick including iron, copper, stainless steel, plastic, PVC, PE-x, and compound pipes.
  • WHY DESCALING IS BETTER THAN SOFTENING: The Yarna CWD24 Water Descaler System won’t eliminate wanted minerals from the water that are good for our bodies. The patented system allows the hardness level of water to remain unchanged before and after treatment, which mitigates the negative effects such as preventing minerals from forming scale deposits, which is the main disadvantage of hard water. Unlike traditional water softeners, Yarna does not require the use of salt or any water to be wasted.
  • RISK-FREE 365 DAYS, 100% MONEY BACK GUARANTEE: You will enjoy a limescale-free environment as long as our Yarna house water softener descaling system is installed. To that end, should you not be satisfied with the product’s performance, you have a whole year to return it for a full refund!

I have to admit I was somewhat skeptical about purchasing this product as I felt it might be a low quality solution. I have never used this type of water softener in the past this is my first one. This unit was about $75 more expensive than others in its class but I hoped the extra money would make a difference. When I received the product I opened it and was very impressed with the packaging and the feel of the components. The main unit is solidly built and the ribbons are strong yet easy to work with. I installed the unit in about 45 minutes as it took some time to get a clear position on the piping overall I found it easy to install and was quite happy with the placement of the LED's to confirm power and signal at the plug and the unit.

We are on a well and have always just lived with the hard water. When I got in a shower a few hours later I was amazed at the softness of the water. The unit worked flawlessly. We are looking forward to seeing the extended benefits of softer water on our appliances and around the bathroom.

Finally I noticed the unit was U/L listed. When a company takes the time and expense to get a product UL listed it says that they are serious about what they sell. My hats off to this group the additional cost seems well worth it in then end.

We are on a well in the Nevada desert and the water is full of calcium and magnesium carbonates. I am a born skeptic and had strong doubt that this unit would make any difference whatsoever. I read and followed the instructions carefully. put it on the intake and outtake pipes to the whole house sediment filter, see the picture.

The results get better with time. AFter 3 weeks now, we have noticed:
1. Laundry much cleaner and softer, needs 1/2 the soap
2. Dishwasher actually cleans the dishes again. Using 1/2 the detergent.
3. No lime buildup around faucets, sinks, toilets.
4. No thick crusty buildup on the bottom of the coffee maker.
5. Ice cubes melts without precipitating white flakes and particles. (We can make martinis again, yay)
6. Soap lathers up much much faster.
7. Water "feels" a lot nicer. Get out of the shower and skin is soft without that dry crusty feeling.

In summary, we are very satisfied with this unit. It was cheaper than RO systems, easy to install, worked quickly and maintenance free. Strongly recommend to anybody on a well.

We just bought a house and the water where we live is around 24-25 grains /gal and before seeing this, I had never heard of it before. Once I read it and saw the positive reviews I decided to try it. I have to admit, I did cheat a little in that I had a plumber out here anyways installing a hybrid water heater anyways along with other plumbing repairs to the house so I had them install it for me. They brought up the main line, ran this over the main line pipe, which now comes up and goes thru a water sediment filter and then splits off to the new water heater and to the rest of the house. I knew as soon as we put this on that the previous build up was going to start coming off the pipes so I thought it wise to install a sediment filter to catch all that, especially not wanting to clog up my new water heater. This is one of the smartest investments we've made towards our household and am confident it will pay for itself many times over in the future. So glad we got it. Would definitely recommend - even if you have to have an 'honest' plumber come out and install it for you. Some plumbers were trying to sell me 'their' water softener systems but when I did the research on them, it would say it is good for hard water <10 grains/gal - which ours is over double that. No wonder you don't hear about these often, they make more money off selling salt or citrus treatment water softeners and other expensive treatment options, many of which involve monthly service fees. I could go on and on but the bottom line is that it was a good investment especially if you live in a area with hard water like we do.
