My 3 children and I were in a car accident at 60mph. 2 year old was in this carseat and walked away from the accident with just biting his tongue. So thankful for the protection this seat provided him!

Ok. So please forgive all of the pictures but when I was looking for new car seats seeing actual comparison pictures really helped me make my decision. We are upgrading from the Graco extend2fit car seat. I drive a 2015 Subaru crosstrek, the smallest of the Subaru crossover line. Middle seat room is important as there is a teenager in our house that sometimes needs to sit in the back for ull family outings (if I could do it all again, I would have just bought the minivan that I swore up and down we didn’t need and I didn’t want)

Anyway, comparing the two seats side by side, you can see the the extend2fit sits on a bit of a higher base. The lack of armrest and the flip out cup holders do make the seat a bit slimmer on the slimfit. The back and headrest are similar on both seats but a difference that was noticable is the the back of the slimfit is a solid panel as opposed to the extend2fit with an open back. This difference is mearly cosmetic and they are both functional.

The recline option is the same, the padding is the same, the wonderful sliding headrest to adjust height is the same (this is also my most favorite option on the Graco seats)

The seat looks comfortable, the install for rear facing was straight forward; forward facing you have to remove the latch and slide it through the rear pass (didn’t know that, called Graco and a tech walked me through it) I did get my hand fully stuck trying to get the latch through the rear pass but that’s water under the bridge at this point.

The seat seems a bit lighter than the extend2fit but this is a heavy seat, this is not a great choice if you move car seats on a regular basis or want to lug it through the airport.

I love that all of the padding is removable and machine washable, I don’t love that without the infant seat insert there are a ton of cracks and slips through the fabric for animal crackers and gummy snacks to migrate to.

All in all, this is a sturdy, well built seat that does become a booster (which is a bonus that I won’t need another car seat for the kids down the road)

TL;DR
The seat doesn’t seem much smaller than extend2fit but it’s nice. Installation was ok. 10/10 would buy again.

I've been wanting to get a second GOOD car seat for my husbands vehicle for a while. When I saw the drop in price, I ran out to the local stores to "test" the SlimFit out. I looked at the SlimFit and the Milestone, both were on sale (Walmart) for the same price and are basically the same seat. My primary car seat is a 2014 Graco 4Ever which I absolutely adore. It has tons of features and both the SlimFit and Milestone are comparable. Ultimately my daughter and I chose the SlimFit because of the two (collapsible) cup holders.
The seat is super cushiony! There is a good amount of cushion in the head and butt area, as well as added lumbar support. Feels more cushy than the 4Ever, but ours has been in use for several years. The frame is reinforced with steel like the 4Ever, but I did notice that the "beams" are not as thick or wide as the 4Ever. No doubt this is why the SlimFit is quite a bit lighter. The SlimFit also features the inRight latch system that is a must have. Pretty easy installation, although the inRight latch belt is a bit harder to get as snug as I want. That could be due to the fact it is brand new. The harness automatically adjusts when you raise and lower the headrest.
The seat/base is slightly slimmer than the 4Ever. I am currently testing the SlimFit out in my 2014 Mazda CX-5 (middle seat) and I feel like there is slightly more room for passengers vs when I have the 4Ever in the same place.

The only con is that there are only 4 "recline" positions. I wish there were 5. The 4Ever has 2 recline positions just for forward facing (6 total including "booster mode") which is a plus. I feel like it's a little more comfortable with the added recline. All in all, the SlimFit is definitely comparable to the 4Ever. I would definitely recommend if you can purchase for below retail (I $183, $199 after tax).
Added a photo for asthetic comparison.

We use this as a seat for my 5 year old and she says she prefers it over the diono in my car based on it being "more comfy" haha

Carrie M.

My 2-1/2 year old seems pretty happy with her new seat. We don't go on car trips over 2 hours, so she never has the need to fall asleep much to know comfortability. The times she has, she didn't really complain. We like it!

I really like this car seat my son fits perfectly in it. It has good support for him, good leg room and it is light weight, so it makes changing it in out of vehicles easier. He absolutely loves sitting in it because he has more room and ain’t bunched up like some car seats make them feel. I would recommend this seat.

Well here's a review I never wanted to write-
My husband and kids were in a car accident yesterday. 70mph, car is totaled. Husband was thankfully wearing his seatbelt and airbags deployed, but he is pretty beat up. My toddler was in this seat and is fine. No bruises, not sore at all.
I was honestly afraid this seat wasn't good enough when it came in the mail a few months ago. It was inexpensive, there wasnt as much padding as her infant seat.
After yesterday though, I'm buying another one.
Thank you for keeping my baby safe.

While I was hoping I'd never have to write a review after a car accident here I am. 2 weeks ago a man darted across all 3 lanes and hit the side of my car. The car seat and my daughter were not effected in the least. She was half asleep and because it barely moved her she went to sleep right after. I'm eternally grateful for this sear and it's definitely worth the buy!

Morgan

I love all of the safety strapping options and the sturdiness of this seat. Great for the price.
Update: I also would like to add that my son and I were in a car accident in which my car was totalled. It was a miracle we walked away unharmed. I was so glad that he was sitting safely in this seat.
I hope that no one has to test the limits of this seat the way that we have, but know that the harness and padding near the head kept my baby safe.

Highly recommend!! I bought this for my 4 year old son. We got into a horrible car accident about 2.5 months ago. I hit a pole, the car was totaled (it was a brand new 2019 Toyota Camry, only 4 months old so that tells you how bad the accident was) and my son had “minor whiplash” and was released from the hospital the same day. I, on the other hand, broke my nose, my left ankle, my right knee and was in the hospital for almost 2 weeks and in a wheel chair for a month after. It’s amazing that his injuries were so minimal and I really have to give credit to this seat for that. I bought him another one last week because my car caught on fire in the accident and of course, the seat did as well.

I don’t usually write reviews. However, this car seat in the high back booster mode saved my five year olds life this Christmas Eve 2018. Her and her grandmother were ina. Wreck and the car flipped onto its side. The drivers side. She was on the drivers side. We left our church service and we went with her and our little boy, daddy and I rode home in our car. She doesn’t have a single scratch. I’m astonished. Not only did the car seat keep her safe and secure, but our guardian angels in heaven were certainly watching over them tonight. The family with young chdren in the other car were safe as well. I’ve always only purchased graco and I will continue to do so. Their customer service is also incredible.

This is the second one of these seats I've bought, so o figure it's time to write a review.

This seat held up exceptionally well in a 60 mph side crash. On the side the seat was installed, no less! Thanks to Ford and Graco, my husband and daughter came home to me safely that evening.

There is truly no higher praise for a car seat.

On the everyday side, this is the seat I've been recommending to everyone with forward facing kiddos and those with multiple kiddos. It's perfectly narrow for 3 across situations. It is simple to install (not quite Chicco simple, but definitely second place in my experience!). It adjusts really easily, so I keep this in our second car and adjust it between my 3, 4, and 6 year old daughters with ease depending on which one is coming with me alone. They all say it's comfortable.

With three young children, two cars, and a grandparent car to furnish, I've had experience with a lot of different car seats and seat/vehicle combinations. This has been my go-to seat lately because of its beautiful simplicity. It's not fancy, it's not expensive, but it kept my daughter alive and easily does its job day after day and that's all I could really ask for!

Twin mom here:

A lot of moms of multiples have raved about this seat. It’s light weight and easy to install and travel with on planes.... so I ordered it because my poor 9 year old is cramped between two huge seats in the back seat....

Well I freakin love these. They’re classy looking with the heathered gray, they are cushiony, and my twins LOVED them first ride out. They are so much lighter than my other ones, and 100xs easier to install.

Some of these reviews say it’s difficult to install, they must have never used other seats...because I got two installed in under 10 mins from box to car! Loving these!

If you want a light weight seat that takes up minimum space this is for you!

We bought this to replace a graco one after our car was totalled thinking we'd want to have three in a row. We wound up getting a SUV with two bucket seats but I still figured it will help if we use them flying or get a rental car where we'd need three in the back in the future. Install is about the same as the others. I made a seat cover from an ikea changing pad for our daughter who has bad motion sickness and I'm pretty pleased with it. -- much more affordable than the 50 ones on here. I do think the cover would come off easily for washing but that doesn't help if you're in the middle of a long drive...

I needed new car seats for my 5 & 7 year olds before heading out on a 20 hour road trip. During this time, we traded our Ford Flex in for a GMC Yukon XL. These car seats are super comfortable, very durable, and the fabric is easy to keep clean! But they wouldn’t fit side by side in my Ford Flex. Of course they fit perfectly in my GMC Yukon XL though. If you are looking for car seats where you can fit three side by side, these will NOT work in a standard sized vehicle. Again, they didn’t fit correctly in a Ford Flex (SUV type wagon). They fit great in the Yukon side by side and I can still put the third seat in the second row down with ease.

5 Star!!! We love our Baby Trend Trooper car seat!!! To start the car seat has a shoulder routing for our little one that allowed her to come home from the hospital as a preemie. The nurses at the hospital helped us move the shoulder straps to a narrower spacing at the hips to fit our baby. The instruction book was easy to follow and the smaller children harness strap routing was easy to follow. Thank you to our nurse for helping!!! The color of seat padding is wonderful pink!!! We can use the Baby Trend Trooper for years to come as the car seat fits children 4-65 lbs. Safety does not have to come with a big price tag.

Very happy with this carseat. I have tried carseats from Graco, Evenflo, and Safety 1st, and I prefer this one. The fabric is soft and comfortable and doesn't get super hot.

Only had the seat for about a month, and had no issues with it. Thankfully, the seat was not occupied when it was in a car accident, so I cannot attest to injury. But, I was impressed with how the seat looks like its integrity was not compromised. The hit was right at the door where the seat was located, and the door is pushed into the seat, but the seat held up well. I plan to purchase this seat again.

Stephanie Pereira

We’ve owned this car seat for 18 months and couldn’t be happier. We purchased it when our tall son was around 4 years old. We wanted something lightweight we could travel with and that had a 5-point harness as he is skinny and safety experts now recommend kids staying in 5-point until kids are 50 lbs (and 5 yo). We also liked that this converts to use w a seatbelt and would continue to be useable as he grows.

To the comments about difficulty installing — we were nervous after reading the reviews but figured if it was truly that terrible, we could return it. I’m here to say we’ve installed it many times and had no trouble at all. It’s great.

Amy

This seat is a must-have if you’re flying with a toddler or small child. It’s extremely light, easy to install on the airplane and in the car, and is plenty skinny enough to fit in a plane seat (armrest just can’t go down next to it). We were flying with my 34 lb just turned 4 year old and needed a car seat at our destination anyway, so brought this one to strap on the airplane too. She was comfortable and loved it. I recommend getting a strap to attach it to a rolling suitcase and a bag/backpack just in case you have to carry it because even though it’s super light, it’s a bit awkward to carry by itself. But we rolled it attached to our carry on with the strap and it was perfect.

If that headline doesn't get your attention, I'm not sure what will. BUT, seriously, my child slept through a pretty significant fender bender tucked safely in this car seat.

Right before my daughter turned one I poured over car seats (once again) as she rapidly outgrew her first infant "bucket" seat. I fretted, I compared, I researched to a painstaking degree. In the end, I purchased this car seat (with crossed fingers) because it had many of the features of the much more expensive "name brand" car seats without the price tag.

When the seat arrived I wasn't disappointed. It feels quite sturdy, has adequate padding, seems quite comfortable, fits inside both of our vehicles etc. It may not be the "fanciest" car seat out there, but upon first inspection it seemed to be just "fine" and I was not disappointed in my purchase.

Flash forward 6 months. My daughter is now 18 months old. We are running around taking care of errands, and I am stopped at a stop sign when *BAM* a truck smashes into our tiny hybrid HARD and I mean HARD - it's been determined the driver was going between 30 to 45 miles per hour... and I was completely STOPPED. I jarred both of my legs into the floor, bruised my shoulder area (where the buckle was), and had some pretty serious whiplash. My daughter (rear facing in this car seat) SLEPT through the crash and sustained no injuries...not a single bruise, not a hair out of place. I find that impressive. Safety 1st, did just that - kept my most precious "cargo" safe. To say I recommend this car seat would be an understatement.

Ashley N. Hensley

Bought this model almost 2 years ago. Got good and worn. Then one day the driver of the car left the sunroof open. A critter, most likely a raccoon got in and found the straps to be quite tasty. When we contacted this company simply to inquire about replacement straps we were informed that they do not make replacement straps for this specific model. So we figured, oh well this is a tragedy, but our fault. We didn't read about this feature, we left the sunroof open, right? That's not how "safety 1st" saw the situation at all. Instead they took this as a chance to go ABOVE AND BEYOND what anyone would expect a carseat company to offer in this situation. They wanted our son to be safe in our car. So they sent us a brand new carseat. Asking nothing of us but to destroy the old carseat to make sure no child would be unsafe in a substandard version of their seat. 10 days later, a brand new car seat showed up. And now we can throw out the old one. So to be clear, I bought this seat, by my own fault I ruined, and safety 1st still felt obligated to help us keep our son safe, living up to their name!!!! And I'm buying stock in their company the next chance I get.

-Easy to disassemble for cleaning.

-The padding is removable while keeping seat installed.

I really love this seat and think it was a great buy for our family. I really I’m impressed how well it washes stains out without extra stain treatment. The photos I added was taken right after a fresh wash. It was covered in a mix of watermelon, raspberries and milk. It was saturated on red before cleaning.

I really like this car seat. I bought it for front facing my 18 month old. It’s very comfortable, lightweight, & durable. My daughter loves it, she would cry in her old seat but now she sits quietly & comfortably. This is a great car seat and inexpensive.

My daughter hated facing rear so I upgraded her to this car seat and she LOVES IT! She is comfortable and I love the double cup holder feature! The padding is fine, I mean what are people expecting for their kids to sit on clouds?

My daughter absolutely loves this carseat. She is 1 year old and is so comfortable to sleep in it while on road trips. Easy to install and not hard to move around

I was so overwhelmed with the number of car seats out there. I didn’t know what to choose. It seemed like each one has good and bad reviews. I installed this today and am so excited to put my little one in this seat for the first time. It had very clear instructions to install (I used seatbelt installation while rear-facing). It feels very sturdy! This is my first Grace and I am impressed. It is very easy to adjust the headrest up and down and loosen\tighten the harness straps. I like that it comes with two cup holders and lots of padding! Would recommend to a friend!

Still didn't use it, baby on the way. It can recline all the way back. So i don't need to buy a extra carseat. This can go years. Love it. It feels comfortable, it came with everything that isn't installed yet. Like the cupholders. It came with a manual that is a plus, first time mommy. I will let you know when i get it installed if it was a pain or not. But till now i love it! 🥺
