We have an outdoor dog that is absolutely covered in fleas nearly year round, since we don't get hard freezes here in North Carolina. We've tried Frontline, Capstar, Program, Advantage, flea collars, flea shampoos, spraying fipronil in the area around the barn where he lives, diatomaceous earth, brewers yeast and garlic, cedar oil and cedar chip bedding, and nothing worked. We even used corn oil to coat and suffocate the fleas, which worked but only for a day or two. I was convinced that these are zombie fleas and immortal. And the poor dog was miserable and scratching.

I hesitated to pay $50 for a flea collar that might not work, but took the chance and ordered this Seresto collar. We put it on the dog two days ago, and I'm amazed! The first day, we noticed that the fleas on the front half of his body were gone. Today we didn't find one single live flea on him, nostrils to tail tip. We did notice some dead ones on him. This is the first thing we've ever found that got rid of/killed the fleas! He was lying happily in the sun this morning, not scratching or twitching, for the first time in months.

Since the collar worked, I've also ordered one for our little indoor dog and the indoor cat, who also have fleas (but not as many). If these collars really kill the fleas for 6-8 months, they are worth every penny of the cost. I will update my review after a few months, to report whether or not the flea killing effect lasted. I'll also keep an eye out for irritation, baldness or oozing sores where the collar lies (since some pets have had an adverse reaction to collar) and report that here if it happens.

For now, I'm very, very happy to have something to help combat the fleas!

Edited 6 June 2017: It's only been a few weeks but I wanted to update. No fleas on the pets - if they pick one up in the grass it hops off without biting. The small dog was a little lethargic for a day or so (just acted tired and didn't want to play - he was still eating) after we put on his collar, but we kept a close eye on him and he was back to himself on the third day. No rawness, sores or extreme symptoms from any of the pets. I also set off some Hot Shot flea fogger/bombs in our carpeted bedrooms, where we had fleas (the pets sleep with us). Between the collars and the bombs, we are finally, at long last, flea free! I'll update again at the end of the collars' lives to report how long they lasted. Buy this collar - you won't regret it!

This collar is PERFECT. Okay so I was really really super skeptical about buying this for several reasons:
- I hate the thought of my two pups having to constantly wear an extra collar
- I've tried the flea/tick collars from Walmart and they were greasy and had a weird smell but even worse, they did NOT work.
- I've read some of the horrifying reviews
- I'm just a skeptical person and simply didn't think this would work.

BUT IM A BELIEVER NOW.
For context, I have a 3yr old short haired ~45lbs pup (pitbull, lab, corgi mix) and and a 7yr old long haired ~30-35lbs pup (Lhasa Apso terrier mix). I live in Maryland where the weather is just always unpredictable. I feel like we have like 6 seasons instead of 4. We have woods in the back of our house which deer always like to frequent, along with a swamp/pond across the street. This spring and the start of this summer we had a monsoon season where afterwards, there was an annoying infestation of ticks (mostly Lone Star and Deer ticks). It was disgusting. I legitimately could not take my dogs out for a walk without finding at least 4 ticks on them afterwards and on me!!! And this is on top of treating my dogs with the monthly tick/flea topical oil treatment. That's how bad it was, which is what prompted me to buy the Seresto collars. (I bought Large for both of them)
Once I did and placed them on my dogs, after maybe like 1-2 days, I have not found a single tick on them. I know that sounds so far fetched but I don't know what else to say because it's absolutely true. It does take about 1-2 days for the medication to get into the system (from experience and from *I think* what the package said) because I still did find a few ticks on them the next day. But after that, not a single tick! They've been wearing the collars for about 1.5 months now so I'm still keeping an eye on them (I plan on updating this review after 7-8 months to see if the claim of lasting 8 months is legitimate). Right now though, I am sooo happy.

Now I want to address some of the other reviews I saw. After I saw some of the pictures of rashes this collar left on some dogs, I was worried, especially cause my smaller one already has exist in skin issues. But both are doing perfectly well with no skin issues from the collar. I don't want to be presumptuous and I may be totally wrong, but I'm thinking maybe the rashes the other dogs had were because they're not used to wearing collars? So they just kept itching at it? Maybe? I say that because for me at least, my dogs are used to wearing their regular collars nearly 24/7 since they were babies. So when I added the Seresto collars, they were unphased. But then again I'm also aware that just like humans, each dog reacts differently. Luckily, My dogs have no rash problems from the collars.
As for some claiming that the collar doesn't work.. I'm not sure what to say other than that they really truly work for my dogs, and I live in a heavily tick infested area. It really is like night and day in terms of how well this collar works at preventing tick bites. Especially with my long haired dog since ticks would easily hide in her fur.
The collar isn't greasy nor does it have a strong emanating odor. BUT it's still medicated so it still has a very slight residue to it but nothing that interferes with everyday life.

I'm sold and plan on continuing with this product from here on out. NO MORE GREASY NASTY SMELLY TOPICAL MONTHLY TICK GREASE!

**Side note**
Make sure you read the packaging instructions carefully!! They mention a few things like about how the efficacy is shortened to something like 5 months for dogs who swim a lot, or how the collar is designed to unlatch if the dog pulls incase it gets stuck on something (which I thoroughly appreciate) so you CANNOT substitute this as a walking collar! The collar DOES unlatch if you hold onto it and your dog pulls (personal experience: guests came over, one jumps and I accidentally grabbed the Seresto collar and it unlatched). But you CAN reattach it!! So definitely take the time to read the package instructions.

Hope this helps! I really loveeeee this collar. THANK YOU SERESTO!!!

So let me say first I have not been compensated in any way for this review, and I rarely take the time to write a review. Having said that, I felt this was so necessary because of our journey with our pups. Last year we moved to a new (old) home in a beautiful, but very wooded area. Our dogs have never ever had a flea or tick. We have 3. A basket that lives outside, and our girls who live inside. Well, we got fleas, and when I say we..I mean we. The dogs, the house, the yard. It was horrible. We treated, and treated and treated some more. Both professionally as well as every at home method out there. We spent thousands..yes thousands of dollars, and the poor dogs...oh my gosh. It was terrible. We battled for over 3 months even after the first hard freeze!
I was so thankful when we finally won that battle! So, May rolls around and I saw these collars on Amazon. I was somewhat hesitant to buy because of the terrible reviews saying the collar had hurt the dogs, but I knew I would watch closely and take it off before it got bad, if it did.
Bought the collars, placed them, and here we are October and I am not kidding when I say we have not had 1 single flea or tick on any of the dogs!! NOT 1!! We are customers for life!
Now... as far as the negative side effects I see folks talking about. I cant say for sure what caused their trouble, but if you follow the instructions to a T, place the collar loosely, (it only needs to be in contact with the fur) and *make sure it is a authentic device and not fake. I'm sure your pet will be as happy and healthy as ours! I included pics of our very elderly lab, no trouble ( I watched for neurological)! And our poodle no trouble ( I watched for skin)!! ...and our Bassett Bogey, well he's just happy as a lark and outside rolling in the dirt right now🐕

This is a review for Bayer Seresto dog collar for small dogs:

This purchase was made a while back. I am only now entering my review because 1) time is an issue for me 2) I can now share with near certainty that the product works. First a little history: sometime last year we missed the 30th day dose of the Frontline that we were using then. Unfortunately those couple of days turned into an unwanted turning point. Within about a month we were seeing little crawly things on our sweet little pooch. In no time we had a major flea infestation in our home! We continued with the Frontline but were not seeing any results. So we did various non-flea bomb things: we went to great lengths to get rid of the fleas inside and outside the house, we bathed our dog frequently, we combed out the disgusting bugs on a daily basis, we got the Seresto collar and we stopped the Frontline and switched to Nexgard. Our problem went away in about 4-months. Long time right? Well, fleas can linger for a while so don’t think you can get rid of them so easily. You might think that our problem was resolved because of the Nexgard (which also works) but I think our problem was resolved because of both. Since our problem was so severe, at the recommendation of our vet, we bathed our dog a lot. Poor thing. The fleas really did a number on her skin and coat.

The thing with Seresto is the directions call for infrequent baths. This, we found out, is because the chemical effect has to ‘restart’ each time after a bath. This is where the Nexgard came in as a backup or insurance. Our problem was extreme so the baths for our darling Cavalier were necessary – we used a special antiseptic shampoo that helped her skin and killed the fleas that were on her. (Of course, after a few hours back in the flea environment, they jumped on her again.) As we understand it the collar works by releasing an agent that coats the animal’s fur. This is what kills the fleas before they bite. So if you’re bathing your dog frequently, be aware that the collar’s strength will diminish and may not ‘work’ for a day or two following the bath. The collar may then need to be replaced more frequently too, because it is ‘using up' the chemical faster. Instead of every 8 months, it may be every 6 months. If all you need is maintenance then you should be alright. But if you’re battling a problem like we were, multiple approaches like ours may be necessary.

On the flea infestation in our home, we researched every piece of information about getting rid of fleas and applied all that we learned. We talked with a number of customer service reps, wonderful all of them, both at Frontline and Bayer (the makers of Seresto) and even corresponded with a few of the world’s top vets and scientists in the field of flea management. Fighting home flea infestations is a task that requires a lot of work, time and persistence. Killing the adult fleas is not enough. One must make sure the pupae are also eradicated. This next to last life cycle of the flea is the one to fear. Pupae can remain dormant for up to 6-months, hiding in crevices and maturing into adult fleas, months after you’ve stopped fighting. The ideal is to do everything to get rid of the adult flea so that they do not lay more eggs. For us that was the collar and the Nexgard. Focusing on the pupae throughout is recommended too. Since they can linger in your home dormant, you want to stop them from growing into adulthood 6-months after you think you got rid of the problem. Once the pupae mature, they ‘wake’ up, sense the warmth of your pet, jump on your animal baby and start the cycle all over again.

In the heat of the infestation, we would sprinkle and rub salt and diatomaceous earth in all the crevices and large swaths of the carpets. This would sit for a few days (yes, a bit problematic when walking over it but well worth it, I tell you.) and then vacuum well. We’d repeat this every 2-3 days for weeks. We’d also launder sheets, and doggie bed covers, and any fabric on which our dog would lie, in hot water, frequently. In order to gauge our progress, we set up a few desk lamps on the ground above aluminum dollar store food storage pans filled with soapy water. This way we could see if the fleas were dying off. Fleas get attracted to the warmth of the light, move toward it and of course they can jump as high as four inches so in they would go into the water. I guess the soap would kill them. Over time, the dead fleas in the soapy water diminished to the point that we knew we had won the battle. No dead fleas in the water meant no more adult fleas in the house or on our dog. With the continued vacuuming, I believe we got rid of the pupae as well. Of note, the vacuuming is also like an earthquake for the fleas and the pupae, stimulating them, making them jump all over the place, allowing them to be sucked up by the vacuum faster.

So I say, among other things you can do to combat a bad flea infestation, vacuum, vacuum, vacuum, every 2-3 days if possible for a while, launder everything frequently in hot water, place salt and/or diatomaceous earth in the crevices, use the soapy water pan idea and keep your animal away from shady areas in your backyard because fleas love to live there. They won’t be in the sunnier parts. (We used inexpensive garden wire mesh.) Oh and be careful vacuuming the diatomaceous earth because this could ruin your machine. I used to go easy on the powder. You don’t need a lot. And if you have a bag vacuum, get rid of the bag each time because if you leave it sitting there, the pupae and fleas can get out of the bag and return to your dog. We have a Rainbow vacuum which uses water so dumping the water was much easier than changing a bag each time. Anyway this was my family’s experience with fleas and the Seresto collar. We continued with both collar and Nexgard for a while and never saw a flea again. The Nexgard by itself could’ve been ok but I truly believe in the collar since it is not at all like the traditional dangerous collars of old that are still being sold today. I think if we had had the Seresto from the beginning, we would not have suffered as we did. It’s also so simple. Put the collar on and forget about it for 8 months! Now I will never go back to drops flea control.

I hope some of this is helpful. When we were going through our flea trauma I relied so heavily on these types of reviews that I wanted to “pay it forward.” Good luck to you.

We live in SE Houston and the coastal fleas have become mutant super villains bent on world domination. Frontline stopped working completely. Advantage II only works for a week at a time-- too much cost and chemicals for your pup. I was starting to think Kona would just have to endure a lot more baths when I talked to a breeder about what she uses for her show dogs. Instantly she replied "Seresto. Trust me, you'll be glad you did."

I have seen the pictures of dogs who have a negative reaction and kept a very close eye on her neck for the first week. Genetics are probably a factor, but I think some of the issue is whether or not your dog has enough fur between the collar and their skin. I left this loose enough that her medium length coat is layered between at all times. The first day I combed her and found a few dying fleas. It took about a week before I stopped finding any at all, alive or dead. Give it some time to work and realize you probably have a lot in the environment that need to have the opportunity to jump on your pet and die. Good riddance!

UPDATE: When our second dog (golden retriever puppy) rapidly outgrew his size small, we got him the larger collar. Within a few days, I could feel little bumps around his neck and knew it was an early sign of a reaction. I attribute this to the greater width of the new collar and the fact that he still has some "puppy fluff" instead of all his adult fur yet. The bumps have since scabbed up, but they are very minor except for causing him some discomfort and making him want to scratch often.

Kona (small mutt!) still has no issues whatsoever. I am not changing my review from five stars because this collar WORKS when nothing else has been. We will try again with our golden when he grows some more fur coverage and update again. Keep a close eye on your pet if you are just starting use of this product.

Update summer of the same year: Now that our puppy has his long "grown up" coat, even he can wear the collar with no issues! We are so grateful and will buy these collars until the arms race against the fleas forces us to switch to something else.

I put these in the areas that wasps and spiders like to get into, the refrigerator panel on the outside, the hot water heater and the propane tank area. It works to keep the wasps from building nests and keeps spiders and other insects out of the areas where they like to hide. I also keep a bar of Irish Spring soap in the compartment with the Electrical cord as it keeps little rodents out also.

Always prepared

About a day or two after putting the collar on the dog, several blood spots were left on the dog's bed cover from dead fleas. The dog no longer rolls on her back to scratch. She wore the collar for about three months before I bought a new one. I'm satisfied with the Hartz Ultraguard Flea & Tick Collar and don't feel I need to pay inflated prices for other collars.

We’ve tried so many flea and tick products lately and Hartz collars are the ONLY thing that helped keep fleas off of our dogs. We have 4 dogs and live next to a grassy area so it’s hard to maintain without good products. We haven’t seen a single flea since placing the Hartz Flea & tick collars on our pets

I was paying $30 per month for a well known pill for my dog for fleas & ticks. I asked my vet about going back “old school” and trying Hartz. He said there was no reason not to, just change it every four months. At approximately $4.00 a piece, and each one lasting four months, this is a huge savings. Oh, I walk my dog through the woods and fields three times every day and when I went in for a routine check the vet pronounced her flea & tick free! I give these five stars.

By far the best flea collar I've ever used.
I have two dogs & live on a farm, so fleas and ticks are a regular occurrence.
My dogs are mainly inside dogs, but we take them on long walks around the property. These flea collars took less than an hour to start showing so amazing results. My dogs drastically stopped scratching and there were almost no fleas to be found after a good brushing. The ones I did find were dead or dying.
The scent is very minor, which is nice. They are a stretchy but sturdy material that's is also soft so it doesn't irritate the dogs necks.
So in love with this product! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

I have purchased the $50 dollar flea collars and they've done next to nothing to deter ticks. This collar I have found two ticks on my dog, a lot better than the 7 from the more expensive collars and I live in an area that has a lot of ticks. I have found more ticks on myself than the dog. Thinking I might use the second collar on myself

I was skeptical, but was looking for a good alternative to the higher priced flea and tick collars. When it arrived it had no scent at all, just like the more established brand. It was very easy to put on my 65 pound Australian Shepherd and he hasn't complained about it at all. It has been about a month and the former tick magnet hasn't had one since. I am thinking that this product just might actually be working. So far, so good!

So far I've seen 2 ticks running for their lives to get off my dog just as good as the $50 dollar ones are

Amazing! This is the best flea collar I have ever purchased! The price is so reasonable.

We used to give our dog some horrible toxic pills to prevent fleas, mosquito bites, & ticks. Finally she got so sick we had to stop. Turns out this collar seems to work just fine. We have used these collars for a couple years now with no fleas or ticks or problems from mosquito bites. Just sorry we ever gave her those tablets, because she seems to have permanent serious health issues from them. And they were very expensive. I don't know what we were thinking, giving her poison pills. I really don't know how vets can prescribe that stuff.

As I live in the woods and my Great Pyranees puppy ( already 50ish lb) stays outdoor most of the day i am concerned with ticks. Also I was worried about the news that some doggies with this kind of band died. Dog owners are blaming the manufacturers. So I watched and put it on and off after one or two days for a couple of times. Now it gets warmer and ticks are everywhere. I put the band on her for a couple of weeks. First I found a couple of strayed ticks in her ear and on top of coat but now I find only dead ones in her body. Price wise it greatly works on her. It seems nothing like skin or fur problem is bothering her.

Got these for my little Missy and her brothers. This has been a long hot summer and considering they've been outside playing in the yard, messing by the pond and digging in places they shouldn't, I just knew it was a matter of time before my house was infested. I noticed my Missy was scratching a lot, although I never did see anything on her. I knew it was time to order these.

They come individually wrapped and they're pretty easy to put on. Not too tight though--you want the collar touching the skin but not cutting off their circulation. And stylish too! I mean yeah, it's a flea collar, but the color really pops! And they are reflective, so if you can't find them at night, you might be able to see them out there running around.

This is the perfect back to school accessory for your little ones! Show your teachers you care about doing anything you can to keep fleas away from your babies!

My dog has struggled with flea’s for the longest time and we tried everything to free him of them, from sprays to specific shampoos and showers and brushes but nothing seemed to work properly. I saw this on amazon and thought it might not work as the rest of my attempts but it was a wonderful result! He stopped itching, and I can tell he is more at peace rather than fidgety to get the flea’s off. It is a great size as it fits multiple dog sizes by adjusting it properly and truly works. I don’t usually waste my time writing reviews but this one really deserves a great review because it helped my dog and I am so grateful.

Ok,after reading reviews and seeing pictures, I was very hesitant about trying this product. I normally use soresto collar, and never had any issues, except for the price. I have 2 Boxers,1 is white and has sensitive skin. She never had any reaction to the Soresto, and I saw the same thing with their reviews, certain dogs have a bad reaction or skin allergy to the collar. I decided I would give this product a try. Upon opening it,it does have a very strong smell, not necessarily bad,but strong. Before putting it on my dogs,I hung it up,outside in direct sunlight for about an hour. The aroma was still present,but...no where NEAR as strong as when opened. I put the collars on both dogs and watched them VERY closely for any reaction or side effects. No reactions from either dog! No skin irritations, no vomiting, no diarrhea, and best of all,no fleas or ticks at all. Not sure about mosquitoes, but i have a lot of them in my area, and have not noticed any of the "raised welt" bite marks typically left on my dog.
To sum it up,so far, this has been a great product, and a huge savings. All dogs are different, will your dog have a reaction? I wish I could tell you no. But,my sensitive ,runt, white boxer girl, and my fawn girl, did just fine with these. If you try it,do like I did and air it out for an hr,and watch the neck area close for the first few days. If you notice something different,TAKE IT OFF! If your a good dog parent, you'll know right away if it's no good for your pal.

UPDATE:AUG.21 2021...
My girls have now had this collar on almost all summer. We've been swimming, outside at the park, and spent 2 wks in the mountains of W.Va.
I have not found a single flea or tick on either dog,and there has been absolutely no hair loss or irritation on the neck area or near the collar. Again, all dogs are different, but this has been a great product. I would definitely recommend it to anyone, but strongly suggest watching your best friend closely for the first few hrs/days.
Also make sure you read the bad reviews for the soresto collars, exact same reactions, with certain dogs.

Sharks and Barks

2 individually wrapped collars are included and each one lasts 6 months so this keeps your dog protected for a full year. These are waterproof so your dog can be bathed, swim, or play in the rain while wearing it and it doesn't diminish the effectiveness.

They are long enough to fit around most dog breeds (maximum 26in neck) and you just cut the excess length off after fitting it. They do not leave behind a residue or oily film but they have a very, very strong scent that dissipates after several days. The scent is a kind of clean soapy scent and touching the collar leaves the scent on your hands.

It's not visually appealing but it is working well to kill and repel the fleas/ticks/mosquitoes.

The plastic buckle needs to be a bit sturdier. I have active dogs and I need to readjust these collars at the end of the day as they loosen a little too much.

This is a decent product. The last flea collar I bought was Zodiac brand and it was super stiff and smelled terrible, and this one didn’t smell nearly as bad and it was pliable and easy to put on. Our cat has supervised outside time and she doesn’t mind wearing this at all. You can also attach an ID tag to the plastic part before putting it on. ALSO: I feel it needs mentioning based on the product reviews... someone said they put this on their 5 week old cat and it got sick. This is for cats 12 weeks and older. Another reviewer said that she used regular flea treatment and then put the flea collar on and their cat got sick... DO NOT DO THAT!! It says very clearly in the directions you need to wait 30 days after using a topical flea treatment before you put the collar on... you cannot use this collar in conjunction with any other flea/tick product!! Also, there is always a risk of an allergic reaction with any medicine for either humans or animals so always keep an eye on your pet after using this or any other flea product.

My cat who is indoor/outdoor hasn't had a flea on him since I put the collar on him(making sure it was on as loose as possible while still secure). If the collar is put on to tight and that insecticide just rests pressed against bare skin it could be very dangerous for them, they could develop a rash/hair loss or transdermally absorb way to much of the insecticide way to fast leading to many complications including death. I spent the time to write this out after seeing so many horror stories in the reviews here and then coming to the realization that the active ingredient in this collar is the same in say a $50 collar the only difference being the way the medicine is time released that is why it is so vital to not apply these collars to tight.

We bought this for our cat, he had it on for maybe a month and we noticed he stopped coming around. He was hiding more and more. He wasn't eating as well. And then we noticed a smell. He finally let me close enough to see, this collar burned him so badly, all his hair fell off on his neck, he was bleeding and it looked awful. I took the collar off immediately. 2 days after taking the collar off, he was already acting better. Come to find out, alot of people have had this problem.

My small terrier was literally covered in fleas despite multiple flea dips, the Adams flea spray and even Frontline plus flea preventive due to the stray cats that have recently moved in to the property next door! I was beside myself on what to do for her without basically burning our home down and moving away. We had literally tried everything from flea bombs to natural products in an effort to get rid of the fleas and were told by the professionals we consulted that the feral cat population in our area usually brings with them pesticide resistant flea population. Well, we gave these collars a try before spending a small fortune on the seresto brand and I'm very pleased to report that they work wonderfully! No more misery for my baby and also no skin issues for her. I was very careful to read the instructions fully and to leave a little extra room between her skin and the collar since I know she has sensitive skin and some others here reported that their dogs got a rash due to these collars. I'm pleased to report after 2 weeks of wearing these that her skin is just fine and we are now officially flea free and she can once again sleep through the night and eat normally without scratching herself to death every 5 seconds! I will report back in a few months to report on the effectiveness over time.

These collars are working very well for killing ticks. My beagle got out of the yard and went for a run in the woods all day. The next day I put this collar on him and then one day later took him to the vet. He was dropping little small ticks all over the vets office. His hair was so thick I didn't even notice them. It was kind of embarrassing but I did explain to the vet what happened. The same thing happened with my hound. He ran off for a day and came home loaded with ticks which started falling off after a few hours of him being back home. He is a couch potato and I was able to see the ticks on him. He managed to get out twice over the course of a week and I have pulled at least 60 ticks off of him. All were dead or dying. The one thing I don't like about the collar is that it comes off easily. My hound did lose one of his Adam's collars in the woods, but luckily I had a spare. So far I have not seen any fleas this season but out of the 6 dogs I have that wear these collars, all ticks are dead or dying. The other dogs don't seem to pick up ticks like the hounds. I did shave the big hairy dogs (great Pyrenees), so I cannot attest to the collars working thru a lot of hair, but they do work on my 100 pound dog. Some people may not understand how flea and tick meds work. The pest DOES have to bite the animal to die. There does not seem to be a repellent factor. Killing pests before they have a chance to breed and lay thousands of eggs will eventually eradicate any pest problem in your yard or home, and prevent future issues. Your pet may still get bitten by the occasional bug if a visitor brings one in, or he goes for walks outside his own territory, but they won't be able to create an infestation and the problem is greatly minimized. Hopefully soon, there will be a repellant action, but in the meantime, I suggest using a repellant product on your dog and yourself if you'll be in tick or flea territory.

Seems to work as good as the Seresto brand that I used before.

I have 2 small dogs that stay outside for the most part. They will have fleas and ticks if untreated.

Like Seresto, this product takes time for the medication to build up in the dog's skin. During that time, your dog may experience an allergic reaction to the medication. If that happens, do not do like another reviewer on here. Take the collar off. Not all dogs are allergic, but some are.

If you have fleas and ticks on the dog, use something to eliminate that infestation first.
