I have been buying this for a couple of years now. An amazing product for so many reasons; taste, ease of mixing, and plant based. I go through 1-2 per month.

I have one little gripe that won't cost it a star... but the containers are 1/2 full? I know manufacturers are trying to cut costs by shrinking the amounts purchased, but when you get a fairly robust plastic container that's only 1/2 full... it's getting ridiculous. It's a waste of plastic and turns an otherwise wonderful product into a scam. Come on Orgain, you are better than that.

I ordered the creamy chocolate and started replacing 1-2 meals a day with it. I can’t compare this with any other protein shake mix because this is the first powdered protein mix I’ve bought. However, I can tell you that the taste is great. It can be a little chalky at first, but after learning how to blend it right with Nutra Ninja bullet, there is not really any chalkiness or grit to it especially if you add a banana and a handful of ice to it. I use unsweetened vanilla almond milk as the base. The best part is I’m not hungry for about 4.5 hours which was my goal. I’ll be ordering more.

First I would like to say that I usually buy this at Costco but decided to buy it on Amazon since it's like $8 dollars cheaper than going to Costco. However the one at Costco is 2.75 lbs and the one on Amazon is 2.03 lbs. So there's that. I think that it is a better buy on Amazon since I don't have to drive all the way to Costco and face the weekend madness lol. And it's free two day shipping. Other than the great deal I get this is also my favorite protein powder I've had, ever. It's tastes amazing for an organic powder, I love the chocolate flavor. It's rich and creamy. I am also a nursing mom and drinking this helps replenish my body after a nursing session. I do sometimes get the grittiness but that's only if I don't blend it long enough. I love that it's so easy to prepare, I just put the scoops into some milk, blend it on my magic bullet, and drink it like chocolate milk. It's so good! I will definitely be buying this on Amazon from now on.

I just started drinking this powder a few days ago and my motto is if it tastes like crap it looks great on the body and if it tastes great well it doesn't usually look so great on the body which is why I bought this to begin with. I didn't want to mix it in my morning coffee that's how my son drinks it. Yuck! But I decided to just mix a scoop in some cold water and just stir it up and drink it and don't worry about the taste. Well I did that for 5 mornings this week and to my surprise by the 3rd day I had lost my taste for sugar and cravings! I was really surprised but that's the side affect for drinking this stuff😎 I have lost a pound and I've been working out and my energy is like the energizer bunny! It's crazy as I am a almost 5 year stroke survivor working on getting my energy back up. About the taste once I get past the first sip I can drink the rest and it taste pretty good. I ordered myself a blender that I can't wait to try so I will come back and update this review next week!😊 I say treat your body good and it will feel amazing 😎

I used Shakeology for one year a while ago. I loved what it did for my body and health.what I didn't like was what it did for my pocket, it was just too expensive. I went 3 years without drinking protein shakes, because I didn't know I could fashion something similar to Shakeology by combining a full amino acid profile protein powder with a superfood powder plus flavors like raw cocoa and matcha. I chose Orgain because of the price, to be honest. My first purchase was the Chocolate flavor and I found two scoops in 8oz of liquid made an extremely sweet shake and I couldn't drink it. So I asked for a refund (and they didn't ask me to return the used canister!) and ordered the unflavored powder plus the Orgain Superfood powder. It's a winner!! I even like the texture better than Shakeology --- Shakeology was kinda gooey 😩

I vary my smoothies, but my staple recipe is:

1 frozen Banana (bananas ripen too fast, so I freeze them in ziplock bags)
1/2 cup frozen mixed berries
2 tbsp Peanut or nut butter
2 scoops Orgain
1 scoop Orgain Superfood Powder
1 tbsp raw cacao
10 oz Almond milk

It's freaking delicious and filling, plus I noticed less bloating.

Absolutely recommended 😊

I've been using this for about a year. I have tried about everything out there and
for the money...and being plant based...in my opinion it's right up there with
the top name brands; for a lot less cost. I mix it with Organic raspberries, blueberries, 1/2 of
banana, Green Vibrance and self ground Flax Seed; plus some high potency mutli vitamins with
minerals and Ubiqunol. I usually am never tired and have energy that keeps me going until
fairly late at night.I'm going to be 70 and something has to be helping me and I believe it is
this regiment. Good luck and God Bless

I am a middle aged woman needing to lose weight. I am allergic to nuts. I did my research and tried this product. I mix it with coconut milk and 1/2 banana every morning. I have lost 26 pounds in 10 weeks. This keeps my energy and nutrient levels up and makes it easy to a tay on target. I tried the creamy vanilla and didn't care for it. The Dutch chocolate does the trick and I am not tired of it. This is the choice to make!

Absolutely LOVE this product!! I am a 22 year old woman and I’ve been training for 8 months now and have tried a variety of whey protein products and have found that this is by far my favorite. I’ve been using this product for about a month now and definitely see and feel a difference and changes in my body type- I am gradually becoming more lean. It not only TASTES AMAZING but provides so many nutrients and replenishes those stores in the body. I use a bottle blender to shake it up. Very smooth (mixes very well) and tastes like Swiss Miss brand hot chocolate. I prefer mixing it with hot water. It definitely helps with muscle recovery while keeping me lean. DEFINITELY WILL BE ORDERING AGAIN!! I will say that this product is most effective AFTER exercise (or before as well but better to have some form of carbs before exercise so you can get the most out of your workout. Carbs=energy) and with clean-ish diet. (as any product is). Be patient, work hard, and you will see results!

First, let me say that there are reviews here for various flavors, and I have only tried the chocolate. I was looking for a plant based protein powder, and I like Isopure products, so am trying it. According to what I see, it actually has more BCCAs than the Isopure Whey, though I do not know the specific break down of the various amino acids.

I have used it in a blender and in a shaker, and both worked well. I usually add a little water or almond milk, then the powder, then more liquid, and i have no problems with clumping.

The taste is good to me, and i have blended it alone, with iced coffee, with bananas and blueberries, and with strawberries. I guess I'm just not picky.

It is manufactured in Illinois farm country, though I am not sure the peas and rice are grown here.

How it works in the body vs something else...How in the world would I ever know? It says it's vegan pea and brown rice protein, which should be complete, so...

Thanks for letting me share my thoughts.

I’ve had my fair share of protein shakes. And not many are pleasant but this is definitely my favorite. I’ve tried this and dark chocolate and both are great tasting. I don’t need to look for another protein this is what I’ve been looking for- plant based, low carb, clean ingredients.

Elli

I’ve tried nearly every plant based protein powder on the market. After years and years of searching, I still have not found the perfect one. While, I’m not a huge fan of the vega’s sport or all-in-one replacement powders, this one NAILED IT. I got the Caramel Toffee flavor, which is AMAZING. Texture of the powder was good, easy to dissolve, etc. I literally have no complaints besides the fact that it doesn’t come in a larger size! I would also like my scoop size to be worth 20g of protein instead of 15g :).

CleverReviewName

Both: Not too sweet, despite having real sugar. I love that this isn't full of artificial junk. Blends in shaker cup easily. Open it somewhere you can easily clean. It is a light-weight powder and can make a mess if you aren't careful. y only problem, which is true of all Vega protein is this: why can't the scoop be attached to the side or lid? Other companies have found ways to do this and still keep the containers sealed. I prefer Vega, but gosh, it would be nice to not be fishing out the scoop.

Caramel Toffee Flavor : The caramel-toffee flavor was very light and not heavily sweet or intense. I like to add a scoop to my other less tasty protein powders because this improves them.

Strawberry Banana: I saw a lot of happy reviews for this. I am not sure I like it as much as the other flavors. It isn't bad tasting, and it has real, actual, dried strawberry and banana in it for flavor. It reminds me of dried strawberries and banana chips. I imagine blending this with fruit would be amazing. I understand why people like it, but it isn't my favorite since I drink them in plain water.

Becoming my favorite protein for frappes!! Recipe courtesy of themacrobarista : 2 scoops protein, 1 cup almond milk, 1/2 serving chocolate chips, 1 serving sugar sugar free chocolate syrup and some ice. Blend and enjoy!!

Jen

So many protein powder companies sell half empty containers and claim that the product settles. That may be true but it's also possible to pack it in better. This product demonstrates that those other companies are either not investing in the equipment needed to better pack in powder or engaging in deceptive marketing using larger containers. Bravo and 5 stars for this alone. Also, it tastes good. Could use less sugar though.

Janelle

I saw themacrobarista who I follow for lower calorie versions of coffee drinks use this to make a frappe and it looked delicious and for having protein as well as collagen I had to have it. Well I am hooked! I mix it with almond milk, ice, a handful of sugar free chocolate chips, and whole espresso beans (yes I love my caffeine) and throw it all in a blender. It legitimately tastes like a Java chip frappuccino and I am so happy with this protein powder, best tasting protein powder I've had.

These people fear mongering “heavy metals” should take the 30 seconds to study the subject. Those substances are in every plant you’ve ever eaten in your life, and because this product is made by people who respect your body, it has retained the minerals found naturally in the same plants. Further, that Clean Label study has been butchered by the scientific community as disingenuous for these same reasons.

Yes, this product has the most of those plant materials, because it is in fact the purest plant product. If you want Whey go get it.

GJ

I hardly write reviews, but when i saw all the complaints about the metals I just have to say.,,, Stop it people!! For all of those on a plant based diet you should know that one of the first things you have to realize is that heavy metals are naturally present in soil and water which logically means there are going to be certain amounts of it in most fruits, vegetables and tap water . So let me say this, METALS ARE NOT ADDED TO PROTEIN POWDERS but they are absorbed from the soil by whatever plant source is being utilized to create the product,. Start doing your own research and you will discover what organization started this entire fear mongering about metals in plant based supplements and why they did so and if you want to continue to complain, then you might as well continue and stop eating, vegetables and fruit and a whole list of other foods that will take up to much space in this review . In closing, I experiment with different plant based brand protein powder supplements and this Vega is fantastic. Grainy or not grainy just depends on how you make it. Sweet or not sweet once again depends on how you mix it i.e with water or milk or fruit etc. I keep mine simple, about 85% water with a top off of Flaxseed milk. Absolutely delicious!!!!

This has a really distinct flavor to it. I did COUNTLESS hours of research on protein powders because I’m a breastfeeding mom to a daughter with a dairy allergy. If I have dairy, my daughter is throwing up 30 hours later. I ended up choosing a vegan protein because I was nervous about all the whey isolates even though “lactose free” they’re really just adding in the lactase enzyme. It’s great. Noticeable muscle tone and added weight. I’m 5’4 and was 113 lbs when beginning, about 1 month later I’m 118 lbs and my body is looking more athletic as desired. Personally the flavor and texture is much more enjoyable in a smoothie. I do 1 scoop chocolate protein, 2 TBs peanut butter powder, 3/4 cup almond milk, 3/4 cup water, and half a frozen banana. I look forward to it in the mornings after working out.

Quality 5/5
Taste 4.5/5
How well it blends 4/5
Affordability 3/5

For starters, I did not receive this product free or discounted, I bought it. I decided to do this review because at the time, there were no other reviews on it. And about me, I'm hardly a fitness guru or expert on protein powders. I am however, a former Marine, recreational runner, who likes to workout, do yoga, swim etc. so fitness and protein powders are no stranger to me. I have always used whey proteins though, so many of my comparisons will be to whey.

Why I chose this protein? Well unless you live under a rock somewhere, I'm sure you've heard about all the nasty things that are in our food nowadays. That being, but not limited to: GMOs, growth hormones, antibiotics, pesticides and so on. So obviously because of this they can be in our supplements too. Here lately, I'm personally trying to watch what I put into my body especially GMOs. I've grown tired of most supplements having bad fillers and "mystery ingredients". I wanted something clean, with better transparency on its ingredients and with legitimate certifications to prove it. This protein is also very clear with its amino acid profile, it's not hidden like some brands do. So those are reasons why I decided to give this protein a chance over staying with whey.

About the protein itself, it's somewhat different from others I've used. That being it's not very pleasing visually or to smell. It kinda smells like playdough, with a slight hint of vanilla. It appears to look and behave a little different than whey protein. It clumps into tiny balls on top of itself some when you shake the container to unsettle and mix the powder. It fluffs up some too, just not quite as good as whey powder. The small clumps easily break with the slightest touch though, so don't let that deter you. It also has a slightly different texture than whey. When whey protein gets on something you can just wipe or brush it off most of the time. With this protein powder it leaves behind a fine residue, similar to something a talc or corn starch powder would do. With that said, it's kinda hard to brush off, you practically need to wash it off or wipe it up with something damp. So be warned, this product is more messy than your average whey powders. And you will quickly discover this when you dig for your measuring scooper.

As far as mixing and taste go, mixing it seemed no different to me than most whey powders. I used my blender bottle, same as I would with whey powder and I noticed no notable difference between the two powders. In fact it mixed very well, similar to a more higher end whey powder. The taste was surprising! Given the smell that is, which also got better once it was mixed. I mixed this with almond milk, same as I do with whey powders. And I've got to say, I was definitely impressed with the taste, it's quite delicious. It also seems like a taste that will grow on you, so I'm looking forward to that. The flavor was vanilla, in case you were wondering.

Money time, talking the dollar per grams of protein, which you can easily determine with any protein powder. In this case, one serving is 21g and 15g of that is protein and there are 38 servings. So we have 15x38 being 580 grams of total protein. Now divide that, by whatever you pay for the product and you have your ratio of protein per dollar. You will likely find a lower number on this product. Because let's face it, for the amount of protein you get here, this product is fairly expensive. I'm not a fan of the price, but sometimes in life you get what you pay for. So you have to ask yourself, is the extra money worth it, for your health and peace of mind? You decide.

Why I gave this product 5 stars? The quality! It has several certifications to verify how clean it is. That gives me peace of mind and confidence knowing I can trust the product. Not having to worry if it's potentially harmful through the use of cheap fillers and toxic ingredients. I also feel this protein is amongst the top of its class compared to other plant-based proteins. This product is also about 71% pure protein, which compared to most plant-based proteins is notably higher. Also and surprisingly, the price isn't too bad when you shop it against other plant-based proteins. Use the dollar per grams of protein ratio and see for yourself. And as I've already noted, the taste is pretty great and it mixes well too. You also get the added benefit of probiotics, antioxidants and a solid BCAA profile. So if you're looking for a healthier protein supplement, this may be the one for you. I'm personally making the switch to this plant protein over whey proteins and I couldn't be happier.

If I notice anything out of the ordinary with this product, good or bad I will do an update.

A warning: for those of you who are caffeine sensitive or simply just avoid having it in your diet. The chocolate flavor, does in fact contain caffeine, 7mg per serving.

DSC

How much time do you have? Oh, how I could go on about this stuff. I have done more research on different types of plant based protein powder. I have tried too many brands to name. THIS. This is the way to go if you are looking for something plant based, full of good nutrition, minus a lot of crap you don't need, and with no added sugar. Sugar is poison to me, and I'm allergic to dairy and most preservatives. I'm also Celiac. But, I've really gotten into running and strength training, and I needed something to add a good dose of protein and nutrition to my day. Other options didn't taste anywhere near as good, weren't as "clean," or didn't mix well. With this, I essentially make the healthiest soft serve ice cream, I mean smoothie bowl, for breakfast every morning -- a bit of frozen apple, frozen pear, a couple of cups of frozen cauliflower, 2 scoops of this, 1/2 cup unsweetened vanilla cashew milk, 1/2 cup of cold coffee, a bunch of spices (clove, cinnamon, allspice, cayenne, black pepper, and turmeric), a couple of piece of frozen ginger root -- toss it in my food processor and AMAZING. It is also good mixed into oatmeal (add a 1/2 cup pumpkin puree and WOW). If you need a little more sweetness, a few drops of monk fruit sweetener pairs well. Really, I tried every other brand for you. This is a great choice. I love it! I've been using it a couple of months now, and I feel the difference. I highly recommend it!

V.M

There are many great reviews written about this product, and for a good reason. This protein powder is top notch. Those who complain about the taste and say it's chalky, I don't see it at all. I think this product tastes excellent. I've been using it in smoothies for the past 10 days, and am happy to report it doesn't cause any discomfort, bloating, or stomach aches, as I experienced with some other protein powders. For me that is one of the most important aspects in the protein powder. Ingredients also deliver. They are stellar and I love, love, love that this product is organic certified and non-gmo verified. Those are very expensive and difficult certificates to obtain and the a brand has to comply with many regulations to receive these certificates.

Another great thing about this product is that the ration of protein to carbs is more than (4:1). I read that the ratio of protein to carbs in a protein powder shouldn't exceed 4:1 ration; meaning 4 parts of protein to 1 part of carbs per serving. In this product it is (7.5:1), with 30 gr of protein to 4 gr of carbs per serving (2 scoops). There are many protein powders that claim they have a high amount of protein per serving, but they also load it with high amount of carbs. I stay away from those protein powders because, in my opinion it defeats the purpose. If I need a high amount of carbs, I eat a meal.

I am not a vegan and/or vegetarian. The only reason I don't take whey protein is that my stomach doesn't tolerate it well. I've tried other plant-based protein powders, but GOL Sport Organic Plant-Based PP works the best for me. I hope this was helpful.

A very filling meal. I mix one scoop with one glass (1-2 cups) of water. Most negative reviews are because of the taste, however, this depends on people. My first Vega product was the vanilla one, which is delicious. Going from that to this is a shock, but if you're committed to not using Splenda or artificial flavorings, after the first 2-5 drinks you will honestly develop a taste for it. I have a glass every afternoon as part of my new lifestyle and I'm losing weight and staying fit.

It blends perfectly. The trick is to fill the cup with water first, then put in the powder, and stir. If it doesn't mix well, you're probably not using enough water. As a chemist, I have a habit of using as little solvent as possible and then bring to volume, but that doesn't work here. Also, the powder is light as heck and staticy, so it tends to get everywhere when you scoop it out. It would be nice if a future formula or container didn't do this, but it's a minor complaint and worth dealing with given how good the product is.

I don't know of any studies that have demonstrated the quality of the ingredients, but all I can say is I drink a glass every afternoon as part of my new healthy lifestyle and I've been losing fat, while keeping my muscle mass. I like having protein from vegetables, because too much protein form meat can give you kidney problems, which I actually was just diagnosed with last week.

I’ve tried both the vanilla and berry flavored protein. The vanilla is average, but the berry is the perfect additional flavor I’ve been looking for in my post-workout smoothies. I use frozen berries + spinach + coconut milk + one scoop of the berry powder. I think it’s funny that some people complain that the powder tastes “planty” because like... OBVIOUSLY! It’s a plant based protein, haha. It doesn’t bother me personally, but if it did, it’s still worth sacrificing the sugary whey protein powders that “taste” better for one that is healthier. Otherwise it’s counter-active. Overall, this is one of the best budget protein powders I’ve tried. Forget Shakeology or Arbonne. That stuff is ridiculously overpriced. I also have a very sensitive stomach (dairy and gluten free) for anyone concerned about that, and this powder doesn’t bother me one bit. Definitely recommend!

Since I prefer not to rot my teeth with sugar-filled concoctions or spike my blood sugar and promote insulin resistance with artificial sweeteners, I thought I would never find an unsweetened protein powder that I could choke down comfortably without needing to disguise the taste...until now!

Pros:
- Dissolves readily
- Smooth texture relative to other plant based proteins
- Extremely neutral flavor - neutral enough to use this as if it were a nondairy milk. I'm talking less glecchy than soy or almond, which is saying a lot.
- If you do need to disguise it, it blends easily with any other fruits, flavorings etc. I usually drink this plain, or with half a scoop of chai tea latte mix if I want some flavor.

Cons:
- ...
- High in sodium I guess?
- Separates easily so you'll need your shaker bottle.

I just wish it came in a container that had less of an impact on plastics use 🙁

Note: I picked this particular brand because my stomach can't handle gluten or whey. I do supplement my diet with some animal protein, though.

YO.

This tastes like melted vanilla ice cream - I use some oat/coconut milk, 1 banana, and the protein powder for breakfast shakes. It's delicious, not grainy at all, and filling - lasts me until lunch time - no hanger! I highly recommend, already repurchased and recommended to friends.

It’s costly but my daughter really likes the taste which is slightly cinnamon. But most important are the ingredients! I am so happy to replace the ensure she’s been drinking which is full of chemicals with this.

Best protein on the market. I have Orgain 3 times daily, 2 scoops per product and I am in the best shape of my life. For years I was sold on whey proteins with chemicals in them thinking it was the right thing to do for body building. It was not. The cleaner the protein, the cleaner and healthier your system will be. The high levels of fiber in this really is what wins me over aside from all the protein benefits. This is better than any vegetarian/vegan protein on the market. Period.

No sugar, no carbs, no whey, no bs.

If you're lactose intolerant and can't consume whey, then this is a no brainer. I've tried soy and other plant based protein, but it doesn't compare to what this product offers. I'm into my 3rd jug and will continue to use it as long as the quality stays the same.

Protip: Add a bit of cinnamon and coffee creamer into the chocolate shake. Enjoy!

I'm gonna save everyone the time and money. This protein, and the Carnivor mass gainer are the only proteins I will ever use. I have had amazing results with the Mass gainer, putting on only muscle, no fat what so ever. This protein is PERFECT for cutting cycle, while still building up your muscle and shredding off fat and water weight. 2.5mg of Creatine per serving. I will never use any other protein again. If you want awesome, fast results, look no further than this product.

This stuff is a thousand times better than whey protein, simply for the fact that this stuff will mix in milk just by shaking it, and sometimes you could just leave it alone and it mixes by itself, it's crazy. There's no lactose or any other things that might upset your digestive system like whey protein does when you overdo it. I can drink 200 grams of protein (not that anyone should be doing that) from this carnivore brand and still feel fine at the end of the day. It's so awesome because usually by the time you need a protein shake you've already eaten enough chicken or steak to paralyze a small child. It's a bit pricey but it's definitely worth it if you're bulking up and your appetite is struggling to keep up.
