I was a bit nervous that a lightweight hammer drill wouldn't be up to the job, but I am tremendously pleased with how well it performs. It has performed well in all modes--hammer drill, regular drill, and power driver. It is fairly light and well-balanced. The built-in work light is a big plus. My only gripe is that it takes a bit of effort to switch for between speed 1 (for screwing) and speed 2 (for drilling). Not terrible, but you need both hands to do it.

Battery life has been more than sufficient for me, but I am only using it for odd jobs around the house, not all day as a professional. I probably could've gotten away without the second battery pack. But I have noticed nearly every contractor seems to use this DeWalt Atomic 20V system--either the hammer drill or the regular drill--so they must be doing something right.

Thus drill is powerful but is light weight. It comes with 2 batteries. I used mine to hang garden hose hangers and had no problems at all. I will use it for projects around the house and plan to make another raised garden bed. When I made my last raised garden bed I had to call my son to finish the screws that were going into knots in the wood. He used his Dewalt drill and he and my ex husband used Dewalt power tools when they were doing construction as well. I absolutely love this drill. I am 64 yrs old and by no means a person with great upper body strength. I had no problems handling the weight of this drill. Fit very well in my hand. I recommend this to everyone and to anyone who is a bit intimidated by power drills with enough power to get the job done. The bag is roomy enough to fit Dewalt drill bits and drivers in cases. The cases that they come in lock together.

I bought this drill to replace an 18 volt hammer drill I purchased 5 years ago. I use these drills everyday for so many different things. The old drill served me well, but I just wore it out. The new drill is lighter, has a 20 volt battery, and the hammer feature works great. I have many DeWalt tools and I would recommend them to all DIYers and Pros as well

I love the weight of the drill. Works very nicely and gives you much less fatigue when you have to drill overhead. The hammer drill is a very useful added bonus as well. I’ve put it through heavy drilling and still haven’t burned it out yet which is surprising

This is a fine tool, typical high DeWalt quality. The 20V battery charges quickly, lasts a reasonable period and the tool is well-designed and functions flawlessly. I'm very happy with my purchase!

Love it great for the price

Very happy with this purchase! I was specifically looking for a higher voltage power drill so I could expand my DIY projects and while I have historically stuck to purchasing Ryobi, I thought I would try HYCHIKA to save some money on a higher voltage/higher speed drill. I checked out reviews from reviewmeta,, and protoolreviews and they all commented on HYCHIKA being a good relative value and it’s absolutely true.

Despite being a Chinese product and having never heard of the brand, so far so good! The torque is sufficient for tough drives. Works well as a household tool. I must say the product has proven effective and the light on the base is a major plus. I see this as something I’ll be able to put to use for the next few years. Highly recommend. This brushless drill is really nice and smooth. Ive really come to appreciate brushless. Its got great torque and comes with battery and a nice charger. It also have a bunch of accessories. Great pick up for the price!

I used to ask my husband if I could borrow his zip zip all the time. That's what I call it. Now I have my own! It's smaller so easier for me to handle. I love having my own tools!

Moved to a new house and had to choose a new drill since i left my old trusted corded 230V Busch in Europe. Decided to go cordless but was confused initially between 12 and 18 volts. Choose this 18 volts drill because it was on sale (same price as 12V) and weight is less of concern due to casual home needs only. Glad i did! Weight is absolutely OK. Drilled everything from concrete, metal to wood and sheetrock. All functions are working great and still have 2\3 of battery left. Really like it

I like Bosch products and have purchased a total of three drills and impact drivers in the 12V line from Amazon.

I was sure I would like this product as well, but in the midst of climate change, this item was delivered in the middle of summer and the rubber grip had melted a bit.
This is a problem known as Sticky Rubber Syndrome.

It's not that bad, but this item is supposed to be brand new, and the rubber is clearly sticky compared to other drills I already have.

I don't think it's a problem with this Bosch product, though, as I'm sure Dewalt and Makita products have this problem.

Maybe I should have bought this product in the winter. I'm not sure if I should return it or not.

I wiped off this sticky grip with alcohol and left it for a few days, and it recovered to a level where I didn't mind it. Thank goodness.

Even though this is a cordless tool, it has incredible torque! The P214 is solidly built and delivers steady and reliable performance. Using the hammer drill function, I drilled into solid concrete as well as cinder blocks with ease. Unlike older designs, this drill has an electric brake that will arrest the rotation immediately upon releasing the trigger so there are no worries with the auxiliary handle swinging around should the bit become stuck and grip of the drill is lost. As with most of the Ryobi One+ devices, the P214 is a great price point and build quality for even an avid DYI-er.

If you've been reading through these other reviews and you see that people are saying "DoEs NoT InClUdE BaTtErY CoVeR" the image I've attached is everything that comes in the box aside from the instructions and disregard the bit that is currently inserted in the drill.

It works, Its rightfully heavy and its a decent deal.

Had the same Ryobi hammer Drill ( when they were blue) for 6years, till some one stole it. Any way bought this new one from Amazon on the "tool only promo". Used it 15min. after I got it, so much better. 1. Seems lighter in weight. 2. Has a larger magnetic place for screws. 3. The best it has a light that shines up at the drill work, and its a bright light. The tool only is great for me because I already two batteries and two chargers. Thank you Amazon, and the seller.

Just exactly the tool I've always wanted for this purpose, and without the clumsiness of power cords. I've burned out three or four traditional corded hammer drills in the past, really good ones from Ryobi, Milwaukee and Craftsman. They fried themselves after taking hours to drill relatively few holes in concrete, even with careful use. This DeWalt SDS tool is just what the drill doctor ordered. Even though its a big investment, I'd recommend getting the SDS Plus Dust Extractor that goes with this. No mess, no mask/respirators, no waiting, and no cords. You just get holes. The combo makes you want to find some brick/concrete just to keep drilling to see if it's real or if you're dreaming, even if you don't need anymore holes. Shop around. The pricing on this one is a real investment if you're not a professional in construction. But even if you want a long term "keeper" for those projects around the house, might as well just go for it.

After drilling the first hole (2" deep with 3/16 bit), which only took about 3 seconds into brick for a tapcon, I knew this thing was worth every penny! I only had regular dewalt hammer drill before this and the difference is night and day especially when drilling into something as hard as brick. I used my 6AH flexvolt battery to start and it lasted for so long that i have no clue how many holes i drilled with it.

The most rugged tool by dewalt by far. I've used mine for 4 months now and absolutely love it! It takes a beating and more. Works great for the glazier trade. also bought another for my dad for his birthday and he loves it.

My house of 20 + years is concrete block construction. I am kicking myself for waiting until now to buy a hammer drill. So many projects over the years included painfully slow drilling into concrete and stone around here. My current project is adding air lines around my lagoon swimming pool that is now a fish pond. Drilling through the flagstone coping to zip tie the air lines under it was taking like 1/2 hour per 1/4' hole. I didn't even wait to fully charge the battery when this arrived. i HAD to try at least one hole. This baby when through the HARD 1" thick flagstone like a hot knife through butter...20-30 seconds per hole. GREAT TOOL Also, I don't think the mfg stresses the 20 +3 settings adequately. The hammer drill setting works as described above. The drill setting has no clutch, so it's just full power to the drill. The driver setting allows you to fine tune the clutch based on the material and/or torque requirements when screwing. And it has 2 speeds. Super versatility and customization for each task.

This drill has a very comfortable feel to it with excellent overall construction. It weighs about 6 1/2 lbs with the battery installed and with a 20 position clutch it's perfect for household tasks. A keyless 1/2-in chuck, brushless motor and an LED light are all features that you see in more high-end drills. All in all I'm pleasantly surprised with the Greenworks drill and the fact that they standardized the battery to use with their other tools makes it that much more appealing.

The additional battery makes the 20V cordless drill always ready for use without interruptions. This driver also has a power indicator to display the battery status, which makes your work more efficient and convenient.
  • 450 in-lbs MAX TORQUE&2 VARIABLE SPEEDS: The Anirona power drill offers users up to 450 In-lbs of torque and two speeds, gear 1 and gear 2 (0-400 and 0-1,500 RPM). I bought this for the hammer mode for drilling concrete. I used to drill several 1/4" holes 2 inches deep in 50 year old (hard) concrete. Each hole took less than a minute (it would take hours without the hammer mode). I've got the small 2 AH batteries, drilled 5 holes with power to spare. Love the LED in the base which lights up the drill point without shadows. The LED also has a 'work light' mode where it will stay on for 20 minutes to light up your work space. Also has screwdriver with adjustable clutch, non-hammer drill modes, variable speed, 3 gears for controlling torque vs. drill speed. 1 year maintenance warranty (meaning that if you wear it out they will repair it) , and 3 year manufacturer warranty (for defects). Nice work DeWalt. Tip on drilling concrete: push down just hard enough to keep the bit from bouncing and increase speed until you see concrete dust flowing out of the hole. If dust is not flying then maybe you are not drilling fast enough. If you get it right the bit will not overheat.

This is my third DeWalt 1/2 cordless hammer drill. First was a 18 volt. It was great, but when I wore it out.....the first 20 volt was even better. It's still kicking, but I know that this was the time to replace it.

DeWalt has been very good to me. This drill is more efficient battery wise, but I haven't run it enough to truly have an opinion. I'm fixing to mix up about 70 bags of thinset on a job, and I'll know more then. I've drilled out studs on a topout for Plumbing, and mixed a lot of thinset with my first one. An important thing to note is the metal parts in the drive gear. It just makes a sturdier drill, imo. 4 amp batteries have worked just fine, and I expect the same this time as well.

Milwaukee makes great equipment, no doubt. But DeWalt was making better deals, even though they focus more on Carpenters than Plumbers. I'm sure I would have been happy with their equipment. But, the fact is buy into a system.... batteries and all. I just buy the bare tool, and that saves some money.

It's late February mixes thinset like a use the handle. Better, more efficient brushless motor. 4 amp batteries are great. Btw, I'm still running my 4 amp batteries 5 years or so now.

**Update: Monster, Powerful and Right Now Torque. If you have ever gotten into serious drilling than you have to experience it with this drill. The instantaneous torque of the drill helps get work done faster. I have never had to back out of wood, concrete or steel. You must: I Mean must use good bits or this drill will snap them or turn them into a smooth reed. Also as you use it continually the drill does not heat up like other drills I have used in the past.... I'm looking at you Milwaukee.

I have used this drill and would still give it my rating to pros and handymen alike. The others post high numbers but this drill beats them all. Add the new dcb606 and 609 battery series and you will have all the power you will need in your hand. USA Built.

Bought this drill for weekly work as an installer. I also have a DCD791 for drilling and fastening. This drill is the most powerful non-corded drill I have ever used. It is similar to the Milwaukee M18 2nd gen but in my opinion the torque from this drill is more immediate and when you get into deep holes in masonry this powers through it faster. I am so impressed with this new hammer drill from Dewalt. As someone that relies on speed to get things done this drill has been amazing. I just finished hammer drilling approximately 75+ holes in concrete and cinderblock with a 5ah battery no problem. Still had 2 of 3 bars showing at the end of my day.
A warning: This drill has enough torque that if you are not completely focused on the task you are doing it will wrench itself out of your hand. Also in hammer mode this thing is extremely loud in closed bathrooms and electrical rooms where echoing occurs. I would recommend ear muffs for anyone doing drilling for more than a few holes.
Another thing to note is how little heat is generated when continually using the drill. I believe this will play well with the longevity of this power tool.
Last thing, the ergonomics of the drill in your hand is spot on. It is well balanced and very comfortable to work with all day. Vibrations are minimal for a drill with this much power. I believe this tool is A+ for professionals.

Absolute Power House, Torque in all 3 Speeds, Hammer Drill Mode is excellent, Great Metal Chuck, LED light is best in class

Forward and Reverse button needs refinement, 3 Speed Selector sometimes sticks

Let me preface this with the fact that I've never used an sds plus compatible tool. So I don't have anything to compare it to.

Before purchasing this, I'd been getting by with the regular makita drill with the "hammer" feature that came in my original set years ago. I wasn't sure how much better this would be at drilling, but I decided to pull the trigger mainly because I needed the chisel feature. I'm installing a catch basin and drilling through the 2 inch non-reinforced knockout walls. I'm drilling smaller holes around where I need the holes for the 4 and 6 inch tile, chiseling between them and knocking them out with a sledge hammer.

I started drilling a few holes the other day with my old "hammer" drill and after about an hour and a drained 5 amp hour battery, I had 3.5 3/8" holes in the catch basin... That simply wasn't going to cut it, so I ordered this.

I just received the rotary hammer today and had to try it out immediately. It takes about 3 seconds to drill a 3/8" hole through 2 inches of concrete with this. In about an hour of playing with it, I already have 2 of the holes for my 6 inch tile complete. So that's 10-15 holes around the perimeter for each, chiseling, knocking out the center, and chiseling some more This is working down in the mud and water as the catch basin is already set. It would be much faster if I wasn't contending with the mud and water above the bottom of the holes I'm making

The rotary hammer does eat batteries and get hot, but with the amount of power it's putting out that's expected. It is also long... too long to work from the inside of the 2x2x3 catch basin. The XRH03Z would probably have been a better choice for that.

I had been drilling hole 3/16" holes in concrete with an electric hammer drill, my Makita cordless just wasn't up to the task. While the corded hammer drill was a big step up from the cordless version, it was still kind of slow and I maybe got about 10 holes per bit until it got really slow and the bit became unusable. I bought this on a whim, since I have a ton of holes to drill. My first use of this really impressed me. It takes less than 10 seconds to put a 2" deep hole in a concrete slab. My first bit lasted well over 100 holes. I finally switched it out because became it little slower and the tool would occasionally hit its torque limit. I could have probably still used it for a while. This tool will probably pay for itself in the amount of bits I won't be using!

It does go through the batteries relatively quickly, but it is well worth it.

I run a construction company and use this a lot. I have been using the corded model, and I would say this is just as good as that. We basically only use this for tapcons (5/32 or 3/16 bits). For that application it works awesome. I'm not saying it wont work for other things, I just can verify that. Its just as fast as the corded model and nice to not have to carry a cord around. We probably drilled 300 holes today, and that is a regular occurrence.

What to Consider for cordless hammer drill

Here are the key considerations

Features You are Looking for

The product should have the features you are looking for. All the reputed marketplaces and online shops write product descriptions, read them, assess them according to your need. If you are not happy with what they wrote on there, ask them.

You know what? Ifs better to regrate before than after purchasing a product online. Returning products is a hassle.

While checking the product features, compare its pros and cons. Here in our list, we picked the {replaceKey} features from Amazon, to make a quick look. Hope that helps.

Users Feedback and Brand Recognition

Certainly, a product is available on the market for a while, the brand hit some sales and obviously, there is a customer base. If you make a few google searches and read some user feedback you will get a nice idea about that product and brand value and recognition.

The good thing is here we have compiled some good feedback from real users, I mean verified product owners.

There are a few tricks to understand a brand value and recognition like how loyal the customers are, how much visible the brand is? What is their customer support like?

Support and warranty

Sometimes the product you purchase needs customer support and that’s important. So it’s better to check their official website and support system. How faster their response is and how helpful they are.
