I am not an expert on this at all. It seems to work just fine.

However, I would like to say something which I didn't learn until I was a long-distance biker for 5 years: after applying, it is important to use a lint-free cloth to wipe off the excess. The excess doesn't help with what it is supposed to help with and it just attracts and holds dust and dirt and debris, which is bad for your chain and cogset. I wish I would have known that right away. I am betting that the bike salesman told me that, but when you are getting into a new hobby, the first purchase is often information overload. I would have read it in reviews when I went to buy some, so here it is!

If you ride in a dusty environment such as California, this is the only option. I use this on my downhill bike at Northstar and my trail bike on the trails during all 4 seasons. ******IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT YOU CLEAN THE CHAIN FIRST with a cleaner such as the Filzer Chain Cleaner tool with finish line chain degreaser in it. Next, rinse the chain thoroughly with water. Let it dry for a few hours in the sun, then return and lube generously with this lube. Allow it to dry for an hour before riding. After each ride, I recommend rinsing off the drive train and chain. You will see the dust just wash off with no grease left behind as with other chain lubes. Reapply after rinsing and drying. This is how I keep my bikes running smooth in the CA dust.

I live in the high desert of far west Texas, I ride a heavy duty ebike on unpaved, dirt and rocky roads, I originally used regular wet lube on my chain and it quickly gunked up, black, oily, greasy mess, it attracted all sorts of dirt and debris. I learned about the dry lubes and researched which is the best, it was hands down this brand and type. I cleaned my chain and sprockets (and anything else that the chain touched or ran through) with copious amounts of Mean Green, a scrub brush and microfiber cloths until the cloth came out clean, I didn't want to remove my chain.

I applied the lube a little at a time until it was fully coated, wiped off the excess, allowed to dry and then reapplied, I did this 3 times, coating the chain, sprockets and any other moving parts that are associated with the chain.

I have ridden my bike several times for many miles since my first application, my chain has remained silver, clean, I ran my fingers across the chain, it feels dry, slick and clean, a tiny bit of dirt came off on my fingers. I am very satisfied with this product.

I’m a novice in bike maintenance but I have to say this stuff works pretty good. You can see in the before and after photos I took and I did very little scrubbing. I don’t go for showroom quality when I clean my mountain bike. I just used a toothbrush with some of the cleaner on it to go around the cassette. I used a rag on the chain. I spray a light coat after cleaning around the chain and wipe off any excess. I love how easy it is and only one bottle to keep track of.

I ride about 300 miles a month. I usually don't believe in 1-step system, especially when you're combining 2 functions that are opposite of each (degreasing and lubricating).

I usually use a chain scrubber (similar to the Park Tool CM-5.2 Cyclone Chain Scrubber) filled with Simple Green liquid degreaser, and finish it off with Rock n Roll lube. But after my usual routine with degreasing, I decided to try this 1-step cleaner to see how well it works. And OMG, it picked up all the leftover dirt and grime the chain scrubber didn't. And combined with the straw, it acts like a water jet that blasts away all that dirt/grime, leaving the chain like new condition! As for the lubricant part of this item, I still don't think it can match the lubrication of Rock n Roll, but it's like 90% of it if I have to compare, which is pretty darn good! I followed the instruction and applied second coating.

Overall, I'm really happy about this product. I'd add this to part of my usual cleaning routine, and every couple hundred miles, I would apply the Rock n Roll lube as a second layer. But now I don't have to use the Rock n Roll every time after I degrease now. This item really takes care of all the work in 1 simple step!

When I first bought the bike I also bought a small container of finish line cleaner/lube in a squeeze bottle. I ran out of it a month or so ago so I made a mistake and put some wd40 on the chain for a temp lube (which is a cleaner, not really a lubricant). It eventually caused a metal to metal noise at the drive train so I knew I had to get the real deal. The bike chain, drive train and all components cleaned up beautifully but be careful if you use the spray, put newspaper or cardboard down under the back wheel so you don’t stain the floor with what’s coming off the tire (grease and dirt). First picture is the finished job and the second is what came off the bike when it was being cleaned. This stuff is amazing.

Used this to lube the chain on my 1999 Honda VFR about 2 months ago and will attest to the fact it makes the chain noticeably quieter. I used PJ1 blue label previously and it's a sticky mess, this stuff glides on and keeps the chain looking better as it doesn't appear to attract dirt like the PJ1. I did a thorough cleaning of the chain with 1-K heater grade kerosene from Lowes, buy a set of $7 chain brushes right away too, they work very well for this job. It was enjoyable to see all the crud fall out of the chain as I'm like most bikers who neglect the chain. Simply pour the kerosene in any spray bottle you have handy (no I didn't use greased lightning) and spray the chain down protecting painted areas from overspray. Let the chain and sprockets air dry for a few hours then apply the Dupont chain lube while rotating the wheel (assuming you are up on the center stand) then let it sit overnight as it is more fluid than PJ1 which sticks like glue. I did a heavier first application as it has been awhile since my last cleaning. (Measured in years). The best part for me is the chain always looks clean and new now as road dirt is not clinging like it was before. Now that I found a better overall solution to chain maintenance I will clean it more regularly.

I first heard about Dupont Chain-Saver from a motorcycle buddy of mine. He swore by it and said it's the only chain lubricant he'd ever used on his motorcycles and that he got exceptional life out of his chains and sprockets. When I got an Ebike I was looking for a chain lubricant that would help extend the life of my chain because Ebike chain replacements run upwards of $50, so my first choice was Chain-Saver. (I was told by the bike shop to expect to have to change my chain anywhere from 1,500 miles upwards. I currently have 2,500 miles on my chain and it's still going strong.) I check for chain wear (sometimes referred to as chain stretch) weekly with the same tool they use in bike shops, and am always a little surprised as the miles pile up and the tool still shows little to any wear at all.

Two caveats: I treat my chain after every ride, and I ride almost exclusively on regular roads in dry conditions. I rarely ride less than 25 miles, and sometimes up to 70 miles. Additionally, I never "degrease" the chain, even though Dupont also makes a product designed to do that. Sometimes I do take two toothbrushes after first applying this product to remove any surface dirt or dark oily dirty spots, then I use a rag to remove any further dirt. This serves as a limited degreaser/cleaner. Then I reapply the product, and let it wait overnight to dry and settle into the chain.

I am thrilled with this product and would never use anything else. It's one of the most economic and effective solutions to the problem of untimely drive train wear. I do need to stress, however, that dry lube products, in general, are made for dry riding conditions. I am aware that in wet conditions the product is significantly less effective than wet lube products. But since I reapply Chain-Saver after every ride, that's less of an issue for me. If, however, I were to go on a 70+ mile ride, in wet conditions, I might consider bringing with me the travel size Chain-Saver can so I could reapply it before the end of the ride. But that's an extreme situation. (And not really a solution since it takes hours for Chain-Saver to settle into the inner sections of the chain.)

When people look at my chain and rear cassette they assume they're both brand new because they are silver and shiny and sparkling clean. One bike shop junior mechanic suggested that I apply some oil to my drive train to make shifting smoother. I looked at him sideways and said: "Dude...this drive train is fully lubricated. With dry lube." He looked surprised. I never went back to that shop. Happy trails and ride safely.

I recently put on a new chain and used the DuPont chain cleaner to clean off the factory lube. (I know some people say the factory lube is the best, but I disagree.) Since then I have ridden 5,000 miles and have not cleaned my chain at all. I've included a picture of what the chain looks like. I lube it once a week, which is about 560 miles for me. Look how clean that chain is!

I was using Motul before. It's stickier than this DuPont lube and it attracts more junk. It's also more expensive. Motul came highly recommended, so I was surprised that DuPont was better. With Motul I was cleaning and relubing every time. With DuPont I just lube every week and don't have to worry about cleaning first.

I live in the desert, so I'm not sure how it holds up in the rain. I'll try to update this review later as my chain gets more miles on it.

I live in south Georgia near the Florida Line and ride rough Red Clay roads. I clean my chain with Simple Green and a Park cyclone chain cleaner every other ride. Once every couple of months when I am motivated, I remove the chain and ultrasonically clean it. My usual routes are between 26 and 60 miles and I ride three times a week, often at night. I ride a 1x Gravel bike with a SRAM Force 1 system. My drivetrain gets lots of dirt and muck. The roads can be dry and dusty with 4" of "sugar sand" , or deep with sticky red mud. The red clay roads often have patches of dry sand interspersed with deep muck. This makes for a challenge for lube selection. I've used a number of commercially available products, but have liked the Muc Off Dry lube the best. Usually, the roads are dry, but the weather is quite humid. The muc-off dry lube stays clean and the drive train sings in this instance. if a mild to moderate amount of mud is encountered on the ride, the drivetrain sheds the mud well and does well with the dry lube. Sometimes the only clean area on my bike at the end of a ride like this is the drivetrain. For especially muddy days, riding through pedal deep water, or rides soon after a downpour, I will use the wet lube version with good results. The lube on the drivetrain doesn't look very clean after about 20 miles, but still keeps things humming along when things are truly soupy. I tried Muc-Off this spring after struggling with other brands failing during rides and have become a repeat customer.

I've been through quite a few different lives trying to find the right one. Started with finish line dry lube in both the dropper bottle and aerosol and found it to be OK. Didn't do a good job staying clean. I also tried gold link lube and like it more, but also not great at keeping the chain clean. I then tried finish line 2 in 1 cleaner and lube and but found it to be a messy application. Muc-off has been great for all my needs. Lubes great and stays relatively clean compared to others. This is only an initial review, since I haven't even taken a ride yet since lubing my chain with this stuff but these are my first impressions. After washing my bike and chain, I proceded to lube the chain according to my experience, which is contrary to the instructions, which mention lubing every part of the chain, when in actuality, all you need to lube are the rollers from the top of the chain. Anyway, after finishing and wiping off the excess, I noticed something special right away. I have never gotten my chain spotless after de-greasing, and after lubing with another brand of lube, I would always get more grit and dirt on the cloth I used to wipe off the excess immediately, but with this product, that wasn't the case. It's quite viscous but only more so than the watery lube I would use before. I only dabbed a drop for each roller in my chain and made sure to get each one and rotate the chain and cassette. But while I held the cloth under the chain to get the excess off, all I got was lube and no extra dirt. This shows me what it's like to deal with a quality product and although Muc-Off is everywhere you deal with cycling, they've seemed to have earned their reputation. And while $10 seems like a lot for a bottle of lube, the amount I actually used was minuscule and this will last a good long while. The opaque bottle will even keep light from getting in and drying out the lube, which has happened to me in the past with the other brand I have used in the past. But no more. Muc-Off has won themselves another customer and I can't wait to try out more of their products. Best thing about this lube is the scent. They didn't have to add any scent to this lube and it still would have been great, but details like these make me smile. Give this a try, you won't be disappointed!

This is a good base dry lube. I always add ptfe powder to my lubes. This dry lube works great.

I am sharing a few great hacks with you all.

1. Get a thing of PTFE powder and add a half a teaspoon to this and shake it. It makes a night and day difference.
2. Keep your driveline clean. The cleaner it is, the more power you have to put to the wheels.
3. Get a cheap nylon brush and put the gear range in the middle and freewheel backwards to clean. Hold the brush on the rear cassette.
4. Then wipe with a terry towel. It is easiest to grab the chain below the lower jockey wheel and freewheel backwards slowly till clean.
5. Always wipe your chain before and after each ride. This makes the drive line last a lot longer and reduces watts lost. A dirty chain cost about 30 watts vs a clean one.

I am not a roady. I am a mountain biker, so if you neglect it it gets dirty fast. Follow these habits for life. Trust me it makes a huge difference. Even if you dont use the ptfe powder a clean driveline is a game changer. The ptfe makes the lube last longer.

During my bike inspection, I decided to try this new WD-40 bike chain lube. I cleaned the chain first with a small hand held wire brush, then wiped the entire chain with a shop rag. With my mountain bike held by a work stand , I rotated the crank assembly and sprayed the chain with this WD-40 chain lube. I was amazed how quiet it suddenly became and then rode it on a short ride for the real test. The results are so far good, did not see any splatter from slinging off the chain, gear selector works smoothly , possibly easier to pedal. So far so Good. I like it. That's All...……..

This is what my bike mechanic recommends and that is good enough for me and my Specialized Roubaix road bike. Like all lubes, use it sparingly, I think it penetrates into the chain very well. Also, don't confuse this specialty WD-40 bike chain lube with ordinary WD-40 that everyone has in their shop, which you should never use on a bike chain (regular WD-40 is a dust magnet.)

The combination of three products is very handy. First raise the bike on a rear stand. Then use CleanUP throughly on the chain. Wait for a few minutes then use the opportunity to wash the entire bike. Use a chain brush to take out the heavy dirty. Wait to dry, use a clean cloth to dry the chain. Then use MPPL to lube the rings, spraying on both sides. Wait a few minutes and then apply the chain wax on the top/inner side of the chain.

Excellent 3-step chain cleaning system. I ride daily on the commute to work (90 miles round trip) so do the chain with this 3-step system each and every weekend. The Clean Up cleaner is amazing. Spray it on, leave for ten mins and then wash off with the garden hose. Chain comes up like new! Same deal with the MPPL lube - spray and leave for ten mins. I then take the bike for a ride to warm up the chain and then spray on the wax. Job done. I have a rear spool-stand which means I can put the bike on the stand and rotate the rear wheel freely to apply each of the 3 steps. All in all cleaning and lubing the chain has gone from a pig of a job (having to take it off, soak, put back on) to a short, easy job on a Saturday morning.

Saw this on YouTube post. I cleaned my chain kerosene and the blue chain brush that was recommended. My chain is a sealed chain and has 20k on it. The chain came out looking new. I let the chain dry then applied the Maxima 74920 Chain Wax as the instructions said. After 15 to 20 minutes to dry I went for a ride to see what happened. This was the first time that I've cleaned and lubed a chain and not had crap all over my chrome wheel and black spots up the back of my shirt or coat. Have about 1000 miles on the lube job and wheel is still clean and chain is dry to touch .

I have tried every kind of chain lube I think on other bikes I've owned. I used this one exclusively on my suzuki gsf 1250 and sold the bike with 26,000 miles on it - with the original chain and sprockets. The chain looks fine, the sprockets look like they have about 5000 miles on them. I asked the dealer to change the whole set if it needed it and he said he'd like to know how I lubed the chain so well and what lube did I use...
He said there's no reason to change chain OR sprockets. The chain had at least a couple of adjustments left on it, so I sold it with that knowledge to the next owner. I'm now using this stuff on my newest bike. The longevity of the sprockets is great but I also like that this stuff doesn't sling off, it just stays put. Maybe that's why it lubes so well.

So called dry-lubes tend to go on runny. You can lube a chain in seconds, but you'll make a mess and waste 75% of the product. This ceramic dry lube is the perfect balance between liquid and gel. It is dispensed from a plastic bottle with a very long dropper applicator that make it easy to put exactly one drop on each link of your chain. (Photo #1) Start at the master link, and approximately 112 drops later you'll be back to the beginning. Spin the chain for a minute to get the lube into all the interior spaces; then wipe it off with a rag. You're done. Most impressive, since beginning with this lube (and reapplying every 200 miles), my chains are lasting two to three times as long as before. (Shout out to the Pro Bike Garage smart phone app that reminds me when it's time to lube and perform every other service.) I am getting over 6,000 miles per DuraAce chain, and each bottle is saving me more than $200 in chain replacement expense. That makes this modestly expensive lube one of the great bargains in the bicycle world. This lube has an ultraviolet dye and comes with a tiny ultraviolet light (Photo #1) that allows you to confirm that you have the lube where you want it. I consider the UV feature overkill. Because of its perfect consistency, you can easily see which was the last link lubed as you work your way through the chain. (The UV might be helpful if you use a chain without a master link. Do such things still exist?) The final benefit is probably accidental: the Muc Off C3 box is just the right size to slip in the Park CC-3.2 tool used to measure chain wear on the new, narrower chains. (Photos #2 & 3)

Excellent lube, clean application, performs amazing... until you get caught in a rain shower. Then the benefits quickly rinse away.

I don't start my rides planning to get wet, but it's something that happens on occasion.

I feel strongly that, when dry, this is the best lube I've used... other brands I’ve used include the gold one, the green one, the white one... all have their merits: Easy and reliable daily drivers.

When your game has risen to the next level, when you care for and tune you equipment to suit your preferences, this is the next level lube... as long as you stay dry.

The small light feels quirky until you dive in and realize it's extremely helpful to examine the accuracy of the application. You'll see how evenly you're covered, and that you have some stray drips that need to be cleaned up!

I'm trying the Muck-Off Team Sky Hydrodynamic next to see if it survives rain showers. I’ll review there once I’ve had time to ride it.

Great lube for dry locales!

My daily ride is along the San Diego coast so the climate is dry and sandy. I previously used Dumonde Tech Light Lube. It ran smooth and was pretty durable, but the drive train got dirty fast. I've been using Muc Off C3 for about a month. On the plus side, the chain runs smooth and the entire drive train stays very clean for a long time. However, you need to keep an eye on the chain to make sure it retains sufficient lube. If you run into rain - even a light drizzle on a misty morning - the lube washes away. A UV light makes checking lube coverage pretty easy. I wipe the chain to remove any grit after each ride and reapply a light coat of lube if necessary - usually every other day. I ride a lot so I clean the chain with degreaser about twice per week and reapply fresh lube. Because C3 runs so clean, I only wash the cassette once a week even though it doesn't look like it needs it.

This spray is far better than the brand I was using. It came out almost like a wet foam and it didn't
fizzle out quickly like the other brand either. It sprayed well all the way to the bottom of the can.
If all the cans work this well I am sold forever. It coated the chain completely.
